Position Overview:
The Assistant Front Office Manager supports the Front Office Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Front Desk, Guest Services, Concierge, Bell Services, and other guest-facing functions. This position is responsible for ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction, supervising front office staff, resolving guest concerns, and maintaining operational excellence in accordance with hotel standards. The Assistant Front Office Manager serves as Manager on Duty and assists with achieving departmental financial and service goals
Must be flexible and available to work any day of the week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing daily front office operations, including guest arrivals, departures, room assignments, and reservations.
- Supervise, coach, and develop Front Desk Agents and other front office team members.
- Ensure consistent delivery of exceptional guest service and adherence to brand standards.
- Resolve guest complaints and service recovery situations promptly and professionally.
- Monitor and maintain guest satisfaction scores and online reputation metrics.
- Conduct daily shift briefings and communicate hotel occupancy, VIP arrivals, and operational priorities.
- Coordinate with Housekeeping, Engineering, Sales, and Food & Beverage departments to ensure seamless guest experiences.
- Review and approve schedules, payroll, attendance records, and labor productivity.
- Assist with training, and performance management of front office staff.
- Monitor room inventory, rate integrity, and upselling opportunities to maximize revenue.
- Ensure compliance with cash handling, credit card, and audit procedures.
- Maintain a safe, professional, and welcoming environment for guests and employees.
- Serve as Manager on Duty as assigned
Required Skills:
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Excellent guest relations and conflict resolution abilities.
- Ability to think clearly, remain calm, and resolve problems using good judgement
- Knowledge of hotel property management systems (Opera, OnQ, Fosse, or similar).
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
- Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Strong knowledge of Opera & Microsoft Outlook is a plus
- Understanding of hotel revenue management principles and front office financial controls.
- Written communication in a clear and concise manner.
- Exude high energy and demonstrate a knack for building rapport with guests and colleagues.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent Hotel data.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length.
Qualification Standards:
- College degree preferred.
- Minimum 2-3 years of hotel front office experience.
- All colleagues must maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance.
- Due to the dynamic nature of the hospitality industry, the Assistant Front Office Manager may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel, including but not limited to weekends, holidays and overnights.
Salary Range: $72,000-$76,000
