This position will have a focus in our Level IV Neonatal/Infant Intensive Care Unit. An ideal candidate may come with training or a focus in areas related to working with infants in a NICU or similar setting, trauma-informed care throughout the lifetime, and birth parent/related caregiver mental health, etc. This Music Therapist will provide non-pharmacological interventions that promote bonding between medically fragile infants and their families, and support infant neurodevelopment and health. This role aims to mitigate trauma and foster important connection for patients and their families during a critical stage of care, as well as uses individualized music therapy techniques to promote physiologic regulation and overall support. This service is vital for supporting overall mental health and psychosocial outcomes for
patients and families throughout their healthcare experience.

A Brief Overview
The Advanced Creative Arts Therapist functions as a member of the healthcare team and practices at the competent to proficient level. The Advanced Creative Arts Therapist is specifically trained as an Art, Music, or Dance/Movement Therapist for the clinical use of creative arts or expressive arts therapy interventions with patients of all ages to promote emotional, social, and physical health, to encourage self-expression, and assist patients and families in their coping with illness, injury, disability, and hospital/healthcare experiences. An Advanced Creative Arts Therapist is also responsible for the training and supervision of bachelors and masters level Creative Arts Therapy students/interns.
What you will do
- Assesses, prioritizes, individualizes, and evaluates plan of care based on patient/family developmental, emotional, and coping needs.
- Provides services to patients or family members in group or individual therapy sessions, using developmentally appropriate art/music/movement experiences to assess and meet psychosocial or physical needs as it relates to their illness and/or medical treatment.
- Demonstrates, explains and/or provides stress reduction techniques to facilitate adaptive coping.
- Assists patients and family members in coping with the stresses associated with illness and/or the health care experience through developing therapeutic, supportive relationships which foster a sense of empowerment and self-esteem.
- Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to integrate goals and plans to promote optimal patient care that is family-centered, developmentally appropriate, psychosocially sound, and in alignment with CHOP's ICARE values.
- Serves as a resource to other department colleagues.
- Trains, supervises, and provides feedback to creative arts therapy practicum students and volunteers.
- Provides training, supervision, modeling, clinical support, coaching, and feedback to creative arts therapy bachelors and/or master's prepared interns.
- Demonstrates compliance with patient care documentation and Hospital policies.
- Participates in tasks, initiatives, and/or committees that support departmental operations and/or enhances one's professional development.
- Serves as a financial steward by implementing cost effective programming, adhering to budget constraints, and supporting efforts to raise funds through donor contributions.
Education Qualifications
- Master's Degree Required
Experience Qualifications
- At least two (2) years paid experience as a Creative Arts Therapist. Required
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of infant, child, and adolescent growth and development. (Required proficiency)
- Previous and/or current experience working with infants, children, and adolescents. (Required proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications
- Music Therapist Board Certified (MT-BC) - The Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) - upon hire - Required or
- Art Therapy Board Certified (ATR-BC) - Art Therapy Credentials Board - upon hire - Required or
- Board Certified Dance Movement Therapist (BC-DMT) - American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) - upon hire - Required
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - - Preferred

SALARY RANGE:
$62,900.00 - $80,200.00 Annually
Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
