Carrier Logistics Planner
Position Summary
Interact with partner carriers to ensure the highest level of service and capacity while achieving company margin objectives.
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 05:00 pm
Responsibilities
1. Carrier Relations
- Develop and expand our carrier partner network by identifying carriers that meet or exceed our compliance standards and business requirements.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of partner carrier networks to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Monitor, measure, and provide feedback on carrier performance in collaboration with other team members.
- Negotiate spot and dedicated rates with partner carriers while ensuring corporate margin objectives are achieved.
- Ensure carrier capacity consistently exceeds customer demands.
- Develop high-performing carriers from transactional relationships into core carrier partnerships.
- Ensure carriers are enrolled in FourKites.
- Evaluate and qualify prospective carriers using various online tools and resources.
2. Corporate Responsibilities
- Provide market rate information to support the development of pricing proposals.
- Participate in monthly corporate carrier representative meetings.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure successful order completion.
- Perform all responsibilities in alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
- Perform all responsibilities in accordance with the company's core values and the LEAD WITH GRACE philosophy.
3. Measurement and Control Responsibilities
- Maintain a high level of data integrity while creating, managing, and completing orders.
- Verify the accuracy of carrier information before finalizing orders.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support and provide backup coverage for other team members as required.
- Perform duties and responsibilities as outlined in team-specific workflows and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proficiency with computer systems; experience with AS400 and Lotus is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of North American geography.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
- 1 to 2 years of transportation/logistics industry experience and/or relevant post-secondary education.
- Self-motivated, eager to take on new challenges, and committed to continuous improvement.
- Excellent customer service skills and a professional demeanor.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting with minimal supervision.
