The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) is seeking a student intern for the Central Ohio Greenways program to assist with planning and research related to active transportation and sustainability. Applicants will develop skills in regional trail, greenspace, and active transportation planning. The applicant will work under the direct supervision of the Central Ohio Greenways Planning Studio Lead in the Planning Department.

Examples of Duties:

Assignments will include working with MORPC staff to assist local government members and Greenways partners with various projects, including:

- collecting, summarizing, and analyzing data related to active transportation and trails

meeting and event preparation related to the Central Ohio Greenways Advisory Council, Trail Towns of Central Ohio members, and other Working Groups; and,

- maintaining the Central Ohio Greenways social media and website.

The ideal candidate will have experience conducting independent research and presenting information to various audiences, as well as working collaboratively on projects. This internship will require field work in various conditions (such as setting up automated pedestrian and bicycle counters).

Typical Qualifications:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The position requires strong communication skills (both written and verbal), analytical/research skills, and organizational skills. Working knowledge of MS Office is essential. Experience with Graphic Design and ArcGIS is helpful.

This is a team-oriented position, although the applicant must possess the ability to work independently.

Acceptable Experience and Training

Applicant must be currently enrolled full-time in a college or university and studying in a field related to City & Regional Planning, Transportation, Sustainability/Environment, or Geography.
