We are seeking an EHSS Coordinator to help execute our Safety Management System, strengthen regulatory compliance, and drive risk reduction across engineering labs and corporate locations. This role will partner with leaders and team members to identify hazards, implement effective controls, and continuously improve the safety and health performance of our workplaces.
The EHSS Coordinator will report to the Sr. Manager EHSS for Corporate Milwaukee Tool and works cross-functionally with individuals from Engineering, Facilities, Talent, and other corporate support functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate occupational health programs including medical surveillance, respirator medical evaluations, fit testing, audiometric testing, and related compliance requirements.
- Support safety reviews of engineering test plans, prototype equipment, laboratory fixtures, and non-routine testing activities to identify hazards and coordinate implementation of appropriate risk mitigation measures prior to execution.
- Manage the forklift operator training and certification program, including operator evaluations, retraining requirements, performance observations, and compliance recordkeeping.
- Conduct workplace hazard assessments, risk evaluations, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) in partnership with engineering, laboratory, facilities, and business teams to identify hazards and implement risk reduction measures for new equipment, testing activities, laboratory operations, and process changes.
- Perform routine safety inspections, workplace assessments, and compliance audits to identify hazards and verify compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate workplace injuries, illnesses, property damage events, and near misses to identify root causes and support implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage corrective actions within VelocityEHS, including assignment, tracking, validation of completion, and verification of effectiveness.
- Coordinate and deliver safety training programs, annual compliance training, and specialized training based on job responsibilities and risk exposure.
- Assist with industrial hygiene monitoring and assessments including noise exposure monitoring, chemical exposure evaluations, indoor air quality assessments, and exposure control recommendations.
- Support chemical safety and Hazard Communication requirements, including SDS management, chemical approval reviews, labeling compliance, storage requirements, and employee training.
- Conduct ergonomic assessments and workplace evaluations to identify opportunities to reduce injury risks and improve workstation design and employee comfort.
- Maintain EHSS records, compliance documentation, training records, regulatory reports, inspection findings, and performance metrics.
- Promote a positive safety culture by engaging team members in safety observations, hazard reporting, continuous improvement initiatives, and proactive risk identification.
- Support additional EHSS initiatives, projects, and responsibilities as assigned or as business needs arise.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 1 to 3 years of EHSS experience supporting engineering laboratories, product testing environments, manufacturing operations, corporate facilities, or other technical work environments.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance programs, including Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, Powered Industrial Trucks, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, and PPE requirements.
- Experience conducting workplace hazard assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and risk assessments for equipment, testing activities, and process changes.
- Experience investigating incidents, identifying root causes, and managing corrective actions.
- Experience delivering safety training and engaging team members in safety initiatives.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively partner with engineers, technicians, laboratory personnel, and business leaders.
- Occasional travel within the US, 5-10% of the time.

- Effective support of Safety Management System implementation and continuous improvement initiatives across Corporate, Engineering, and Laboratory operations.
- Effective administration of OSHA compliance and occupational health programs.
- Timely completion of workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
- High-quality delivery of safety training programs and operator qualification requirements.
- Proactive identification and mitigation of workplace hazards and risks.
- Accurate management of compliance records, training documentation, and performance metrics.
- Strong cross-functional partnerships and program adoption.
