About this role
Job Description:
We are looking for a Data & Software Engineer to design, build, and operate cloud-based software and data solutions that power dentsu’s marketing products. In this role, you’ll collaborate with product and client solution teams to translate business needs into reliable application logic, services, identity capabilities, and data products. You’ll apply sound software-engineering practices to solve complex problems, not simply assemble data assets or pipelines. You will use modern AI tools and agents to accelerate research, development, testing, and documentation while maintaining security, accuracy, and high code quality. You will also contribute to operational excellence through production support and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Use Agile delivery practices to ship incremental software and data capabilities, using modern AI coding assistants and agents where appropriate while maintaining secure coding, testing, review, and documentation standards.
- Translate functional and non-functional requirements into clear technical designs, decomposing complex problems into testable modules and reusable components.
- Research and understand business domains, source data, system relationships, and attributes; improve data quality and lineage where needed, including for identity resolution and new dataset onboarding.
- Work within established architecture and engineering patterns while proposing pragmatic improvements when requirements or technical constraints expose gaps.
- Apply best practices across the software development lifecycle—including solution design, implementation, automated testing, code review, observability, and CI/CD—to deliver maintainable and reliable solutions.
- Design and implement reusable business logic, APIs, services, integrations, and data-processing components based on product requirements and architecture standards; identify and resolve design gaps.
- Build automated unit, integration, and data-quality tests to verify application behavior and the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of delivered outputs.
- Develop and optimize algorithms and application logic for identity matching, decisioning, validation, and other product capabilities, balancing correctness, performance, and maintainability.
- Profile and improve application performance, reliability, and cost; diagnose defects across code, services, data stores, and distributed workflows.
- Troubleshoot production issues across code, services, databases, and data workflows, and communicate status, risks, and timelines to product managers and stakeholders.
- Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, gather requirements, and produce clear documentation.
- Contribute to a collaborative team culture through knowledge sharing, constructive code reviews and active participation in agile meetings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience with increasing responsibility in software and/or data engineering roles.
- Solid SQL skills and familiarity with relational and non-relational data modeling.
- Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (Python preferred), with the ability to build clean, testable application logic and reusable components.
- Experience with cloud-based applications, databases, and data warehouses (Snowflake preferred).
- Hands-on experience with modern AI coding assistants and agent-based tools, used securely and with appropriate validation and review.
- Knowledge of Agile delivery, Git-based source control, CI/CD, automated testing, and issue tracking tools such as JIRA.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong ownership, accountability, and bias for action.
- Understanding of cloud platforms and cloud-native security and operations (AWS preferred; GCP or Azure acceptable).
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration or event-driven processing; Airflow and Snowflake streams/tasks are a plus.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, software design, debugging, and distributed-system fundamentals.
- Basic Unix/Linux command line skills.
- Experience working with PII data is a plus.
