We specialize in the repair, overhaul, and replacement of components for high‑speed rotating equipment including steam and gas turbines, compressors, expanders, and other industrial machinery. Our customers serve the Oil & Gas, Pipeline, Petrochemical, Ammonia, Nitric Acid, Fertilizer, and Power Generation sectors.
Position Summary
The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) while ensuring compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and Sulzer quality procedures.
This role partners with Operations, Engineering, Procurement, and Quality teams to improve process capability, reduce defects, strengthen inspection and testing practices, support audit activities, and drive corrective actions. The Quality Engineer serves as a key resource for root cause investigations, supplier quality, quality planning, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing product quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Process Improvement
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality procedures, work instructions, inspection plans, and process controls.
- Monitor manufacturing, repair, assembly, and field service activities to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Analyze process performance data and identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and reliability.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with standardizing best practices across operations.
Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Actions
- Lead investigations into non-conformances, customer complaints, warranty claims, and quality escapes.
- Facilitate root cause analysis using methodologies such as: 8D
- 5 Why Analysis
- Fishbone Diagrams
- Fault Tree Analysis
- FMEA
- Develop corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and verify effectiveness.
- Track corrective action closure and ensure sustainability of improvements.
Quality Control & Inspection Support
- Develop inspection and test plans for new and existing processes.
- Review quality documentation, inspection records, and manufacturing reports.
- Support as needed dimensional inspections, welding quality requirements, assembly verification, and final acceptance testing.
- Ensure traceability, calibration, and documentation requirements are maintained.
- Assist in resolving quality issues identified during production or customer inspections.
Customer Quality Support
- Support customer audits and customer quality reviews.
- Participate in customer concern investigations and corrective action responses.
- Monitor customer quality metrics and identify improvement opportunities.
- Assist in preparing quality reports and performance presentations for customers and leadership.
Audit & Compliance
- Participate in internal, external, customer, and certification audits.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 and applicable customer requirements.
- Support audit preparation, documentation reviews, and corrective action implementation.
- Ensure quality records are maintained in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Collect, analyze, and present quality-related data and key performance indicators.
- Generate reports related to: Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
- Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)
- Warranty claims
- Supplier performance
- Corrective Actions
- Utilize Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Qlik Sense, or other reporting tools to support decision-making.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- 3-7 years of experience in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Continuous Improvement, or Quality Assurance within industrial manufacturing or repair environments.
- Understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
Preferred
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or willingness to obtain certification.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience supporting rotating equipment, turbomachinery, repair operations, machining, welding, or assembly processes.
- Familiarity with customer quality requirements in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Power Generation, or Industrial sectors.
- Experience with Power BI, Qlik Sense, Minitab, or statistical analysis software.
