Quality Control Laboratory Lead

Merit Manufacturing | Full-Time

Build Something That Matters at Merit

At Merit Manufacturing, we help bring personal-care products to life and our people make it happen. Our teams work across Research & Development, Quality, Production, and Operations to turn ideas into products customers can trust. Here, your expertise can make a visible difference. You’ll help solve real manufacturing challenges, strengthen our quality systems, and improve how we work. We value people who take ownership, share ideas, and follow through. We’re looking for a Quality Control Lead who takes pride in getting the details right and wants to help a growing manufacturing team succeed. How You’ll Thrive in This Role You enjoy understanding how things work, asking thoughtful questions, and using facts to solve problems. You bring an analytical mind, technical confidence, and the discipline to deliver timely, accurate, high-quality results. You stay close to the work, from reviewing detailed records to following an investigation through its corrective actions. You can balance urgency with accuracy, evaluate risks, and speak up when a quality concern needs attention. You’ll thrive here if you:

- Analyze detailed information and consider potential problems before making decisions.
- Find practical, creative solutions to technical challenges.
- Organize competing priorities and follow through without constant direction.
- Communicate precise information and explain the reasoning behind your recommendations.
- Provide clear feedback, set high standards, and verify that work meets expectations.
- Work independently while coordinating effectively with the teams that depend on Quality.

What You’ll Do—and What You’ll Bring

Reporting to the Quality Manager / Head of Quality, you’ll support quality-system administration, laboratory readiness, investigations, documentation, and day-to-day QC coordination. Your responsibilities will include:

- Maintain SOPs, GMP documentation, audit records, QC logs, and controlled quality documents.
- Support investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and timely communication of batch rejections.
- Partner with R&D on formula changes, recurring adjustments, and out-of-specification results.
- Coordinate laboratory equipment calibration and preventive maintenance, including required records and certificates.
- Coordinate monthly water testing with third-party laboratories.
- Support employee training on GMP, SOPs, operational processes, and compliance requirements.
- Maintain QC/QA supplies, batch folders, bulk product retains, and organized record storage.
- Assign and track form, logbook, change-control, and deviation identifiers.
- Improve quality processes, documentation, and automation to reduce manual work.
- Coordinate with Production, R&D, QA, Warehouse, and Operations and provide department coverage as needed.

Required qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree.
- One to two years of documentation experience, plus experience in a Quality Control, Quality Assurance, or Production environment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing quality systems, production processes, and compliance practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and clear communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate quality concerns confidently.

Preferred experience:

- Technical writing and regulatory documentation.
- Audit preparation and compliance initiatives.
- CIN7 / CORE and laboratory or quality-management tools.

Work environment: This role works across laboratory, office, production, and warehouse areas, with exposure to chemicals, production materials, and noise. Duties include extended standing, frequent walking, repetitive movements, bending and twisting, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Required PPE and safety procedures must be followed. Weekend availability is needed based on operational demands. Ready to put your expertise to work?
