General Description/Primary Purpose: This is a 9-month, tenure-earning, Assistant Professor of International Relations and/or Comparative Politics position in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration. Responsibilities include a 2/2 teaching load, research/scholarship, and service.
Supervisor: This position reports to the Department Chair.

Required Qualifications:
- Earned a Ph.D. in Political Science, Government (or a related discipline), with emphasis on International Relations or Comparative Politics, by the employment start date of August 2, 2027
Preferred Qualifications / Skills:
- Demonstrate excellence in teaching introductory and advanced courses in international relations and comparative politics
- Expertise in a specific region (preferably Latin America, East or Southeast Asia) is desirable
- Contribute to our M.A. in International Affairs program, have a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, and possess an active research agenda

About the Department: In recent years, UNF has transitioned to an R2 institution with an increasing focus on research while maintaining excellence in teaching. Faculty at UNF are on flexible teaching loads, typically teaching between four and six courses per year, with newly hired faculty on a reduced load of two courses per semester for the first three years. Continued reduced teaching loads may be offered to faculty demonstrating significant accomplishments aligned with the university’s strategic plan ( https://www.unf.edu/strategic-plan/index.html ). Startup funds are available and negotiable.
The Department of Political Science and Public Administration offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Political Science (BA), Public Administration (MPA), and International Affairs (MAIA – which the new hire will be expected to contribute to), as well as minors in Political Science, Public Administration, and Political Campaigns.
The department includes the Public Opinion Research Laboratory (PORL), a highly ranked full-service survey research facility, as well as the Public Service Leadership Program (PSLP), and the Pre-Law Program.
