The Opportunity
The Executive Director, Claims Data & Analytics is a senior leader responsible for shaping and executing the data, analytics, and technology strategy that enables the future of Claims. Leading a large, multidisciplinary organization, this role oversees advanced analytics, data science, financial and workforce analytics, operational insights, data governance and quality, and technology enablement to deliver trusted data and actionable insights that improve Claims performance, efficiency, and decision-making.
This leader will partner closely with Claims, Technology, Finance, and other key business partners to build the data foundation and capabilities required for the next generation of Claims operations, including the development of scalable data products and the successful adoption of AI-enabled solutions. The role requires an executive who understands not only how to analyze Claims data, but how Claims data should be structured, governed, integrated, and translated into technology and business solutions that create measurable operational value.
The ideal candidate brings deep P&C insurance and Claims data expertise, combined with experience leading complex analytics and data organizations through transformation. They will have a demonstrated track record developing end-to-end Claims data strategies, strengthening data governance and quality, partnering with IT to build new capabilities, and implementing AI and advanced analytics solutions that improve Claims outcomes. This leader will also build and develop high-performing teams while helping evolve the organization, operating model, and capabilities needed to support the future of Claims.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in Tampa, FL, Phoenix, AZ or San Antonio, TX. Relocation assistance is available for this position.
What you'll do:
- Responsible for strategic, tactical, operational, and financial responsibilities associated with Function or Line of Business data storage, data preparation, data exploration, information governance, analytics, and information delivery.
- Leads the strategy of the sub-functions by establishing and executing a vision for the delivery of information and analytics platforms and solutions to the business' key stakeholders and cross-functional partners.
- Provide oversight for successful end to end process of information management, analytics and delivery.
- Provides thought leadership and participate in developing talent across the USAA Data and Analytics Community.
- Keeps current of industry leading practices and advances in data and analytics as well as the business associated with the assigned Function or Line of Business.
- Leads the team(s) in the development of new techniques and best practices that deliver effective reporting/analytics to meet goals and objectives that align to strategy.
- Responsible for overseeing the implementation of processes and procedures within a Function or Line of Business in adherence with Information Governance policy and standards.
- Responsible for the development of a successful team's training/education plans, automated systems, technical tools, staffing/organizational requirements, and expense budget.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, or quantitative field; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience
- 10 years data and analytics related experience, driving results in a complex financial services organization.
- 4 years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams.
- Experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions and managing work to achieve strategic goals.
- Executive-level business acumen in the areas of measuring business outcomes, business operations, industry practices and emerging trends.
- Experience leading projects using Agile methodologies.
- Experience conducting large scale data analysis using internal and external data to support business decision making.
- Proven ability to tell a story through data and communicate effectively with senior leadership.
- Ability to understand business requirements, KPIs and convert into analytical hypothesis in a structured and logical manner along with solution identification.
- Experience with large complex database systems & architecture, structured & unstructured data; with diverse analytics methodologies and approaches; expert ability to connect data/metrics to business metrics/results.
- Deep understanding of risk management and compliance practices with experience developing data strategies that mitigate risk.

- Ability to translate claims data into actionable insights that improve operational efficiency, effectiveness, and the customer experience.
- Experience developing and executing an end-to-end claims data strategy, including data capabilities, governance, analytics, and AI enablement.
- US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.
Compensation range:
The salary range for this position is: $195,230 - $351,410.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
