Associate Technical Designer – Sleepwear

Lunya | New York, NY

$65,000–$75,000 annually, based on experience

Full-time | 4 days in office, 1 day remote per week

Lunya is seeking a detail-oriented Associate Technical Designer to support the development of our sleepwear collections. This role brings together technical precision and an appreciation for thoughtful design, comfort, and quality.

Working closely with senior technical team members, Design, Product Development, and external factories, the Associate Technical Designer will contribute to the development of comfortable, well-constructed sleepwear that reflects the design intent.

Skills & Qualifications

- 2–4 years of experience in technical design or apparel development, preferably supporting sleepwear, loungewear, or intimate apparel.

- Strong understanding of garment construction, measurements, and fit, with knowledge of knit and woven fabrics.

- Working knowledge of patternmaking and grading; familiarity with Lectra is preferred.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with SharePoint is a plus.

- Experience preparing garment specifications, measuring samples, and documenting fit corrections.

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate, organized technical records.

- Clear communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external factories.

- Ability to manage multiple styles, prioritize tasks, and meet development deadlines.

- Familiarity with time-and-action calendars and garment approval processes is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

- Technical Specifications: Prepare and update measurement charts, construction details, and technical documentation under the guidance of senior technical team members.

- Pattern Adjustments & Grading: Assist with reviewing patterns and graded specifications, helping identify adjustments needed to achieve the intended fit.

- Sample & Garment Review: Measure and evaluate development, fit, and pre-production samples for accuracy, construction, workmanship, and consistency.

- Fittings & Corrections: Participate in fittings, document feedback, and prepare fit comments and correction instructions for review before communicating with factories.

- Fit Sample Documentation & Organization: Maintain organized records of samples, specifications, fit comments, and revisions throughout the development process.

- Garment Approval Support: Assist with the Blue Tag and final garment approval processes by tracking outstanding corrections and preparing samples and documentation for review.

- Development Coordination: Follow up with Design, grading, Quality Control, and external factories to support timely sample submissions and development milestones.

- Issue Resolution: Flag fit, construction, or measurement concerns and work with senior team members to help resolve them.
