Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

The Construction Management Specialist manages, inspects, coordinates, and jointly manages infrastructure and improvement projects for the Flood Control District.

We Require

- Two years of experience as an inspector, or two years of experience in an engineering or construction field, including surveying, drainage inspecting, hydrology, and plan review

- High school diploma or GED

- An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis

Other Requirements

Successful candidates must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire.

Job Contributions

- Plan, coordinate, and inspect flood control projects, working with the Construction Manager and the contractor to ensure projects are constructed according to standards, plans, budget, and specifications

- Determine and document work completed, and materials used; prepare monthly pay estimates for construction contracts
- Inspect and monitor projects under contract; resolve discrepancies between field conditions and design plans and specifications; recommend methods of resolving complex problems

- Attend pre-construction and regular meetings with clients, contractors, and other concerned parties to review project progress and to facilitate the resolution of construction difficulties. Respond to questions from citizens and agencies on FCD projects and plans

- Monitor Storm Water Prevention Protection Plan standards to assure National Pollution Elimination System stormwater requirements are met

- Assure project deliverables meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements. Perform technical reviews of shop drawings and other submittals

- Perform other job duties as assigned

Working Conditions

- Exerting 20 - 25 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly

- Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration

- Incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel

- The work will be conducted in both office and field environments. At the same time, while performing their duties and responsibilities, employees may be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations. Position is subject to atmospheric conditions, including fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation

Protective Equipment Required

Personal protective equipment will be required while on construction sites.
