About this role
Description
Every package delivered and every grocery order fulfilled depends on secure, reliable infrastructure. Within Customer Logistics Security (CLS), we build the software that discovers devices across Amazon's grocery stores and fulfillment centers and manages their vulnerabilities, keeping the systems our customers rely on protected. We are looking for a Software Development Manager to lead a team of software developers through this mission-critical work. You will own the technical direction and strategic roadmap for your team's security software, partner with Amazon Security, World Wide Operations, and Grocery stakeholders, and create an environment where engineers do their best work. If you are motivated by real-world security challenges and passionate about developing people, we want to talk to you.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead and grow a software development team focused on device discovery and vulnerability management, owning the team's charter, vision, and roadmap while aligning engineering goals to broader CLS objectives.
- Drive system design and architectural decisions, evaluating tradeoffs in scalability, maintainability, performance, and security to deliver software that protects Amazon's grocery and fulfillment infrastructure.
- Build a strong talent pipeline through effective hiring, onboarding, coaching, and career development for engineers at multiple levels.
- Partner with Amazon Security, World Wide Operations, and Grocery teams to prioritize work, resolve competing demands, and deliver solutions that address real security needs across the organization.
- Establish operational practices including metrics, audit mechanisms, and quality standards that keep your systems healthy and continuously improve the security posture of the devices you manage.
A day in the life
You start your morning reviewing vulnerability dashboards and device coverage metrics, then join a design review where you help your engineers refine their approach to a new detection capability. Midday, you connect with a partner in World Wide Operations to align on priorities for an upcoming rollout across fulfillment centers. In the afternoon, you hold a one-on-one with a direct report to discuss their growth plan and remove a blocker, then close the day by drafting a section of a strategic document that outlines your team's security roadmap for the year ahead.
About the team
