Serco supports the U.S. Army as a prime contractor for the Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) contract, which implements capabilities that enable the Army to deploy Command Posts across the operational spectrum. Our team develops, integrates, tests, and maintains modern and mobile solutions for an integrated command and control infrastructure.
You will be part of a close-knit engineering and technical team that works directly with the customer and cross-functional Serco teams to design, integrate, test, and deliver reliable electrical and electronic systems. The team has been recognized by the Army customer and industry for its outstanding contributions to the program.
In this role, you will:
- Design, develop, integrate, and test electrical and electronic systems, components, equipment, and associated interfaces supporting Army command post and tactical systems.
- Develop electrical system architectures, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable and interconnect designs, power distribution designs, and other engineering documentation required for system integration and production.
- Perform electrical engineering analyses, including power budgets, load analysis, voltage drop, wire and circuit protection sizing, grounding and bonding, thermal considerations, and equipment/interface compatibility .
- Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design tools to develop, analyze, document, and maintain electrical and electronic system designs.
- Apply electrical engineering principles, industry best practices, and applicable military and commercial standards to ensure systems meet performance, safety, reliability, and environmental requirements.
- Support the integration of electrical power, computing, networking, communications, and ancillary equipment into tactical command post platforms and transportable system configurations.
- Plan, develop, and execute engineering tests to verify electrical and electronic system performance and support troubleshooting, failure analysis, and corrective actions.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of Technical Data Package (TDP) elements, including electrical drawings, schematics, cable drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), interface documentation, specifications, and test documentation.
- Support system design reviews, technical reviews, configuration audits, test events, and technical working groups by providing electrical engineering expertise and recommendations.
- Evaluate component and subsystem selections and recommend design modifications to improve system performance, reliability, maintainability, manufacturability, size, weight, power, and cost.
- Provide technical consultation and engineering guidance on complex electrical and electronic system issues and serve as a senior technical contributor within the engineering team.
- Collaborate with mechanical, systems, network, software, manufacturing, quality, logistics, and field support teams to ensure designs meet program cost, schedule, performance, and supportability requirements.
- Support system integration, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and fielding activities at government and contractor facilities as required.
- Follow established systems engineering processes, quality management procedures, cybersecurity requirements, and configuration management practices throughout the system lifecycle.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- The ability to obtain and maintain an interim Secret clearance . US Citizenship required.
- A Master's degree (MA/MS) from an accredited college or university, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline and 12 years of relevant experience in the design, development, integration, and testing of electrical/electronic systems. OR A Bachelor's degree and 15 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience applying electrical engineering principles and techniques to complex system design and integration efforts.
- Experience with computer-assisted engineering and electrical design tools used for schematics, system design, analysis, or technical documentation.
- Experience developing and reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, interface documentation, test procedures, and other technical documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to independently plan and execute complex engineering assignments using extensive technical experience and engineering judgment.
- Ability to provide technical leadership and consultation on complex electrical and electronic engineering projects.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams, customers, vendors, and other program stakeholders.
- Ability to travel up to 75% .
Additional desired experience and skills:
- An Active Secret Clearance
- Familiarity with applicable MIL-STDs , electrical/electronic design standards, safety requirements, and configuration management principles.
- Experience designing or integrating AC and DC power distribution systems, power supplies, UPS systems, batteries, power conversion equipment, grounding/bonding, circuit protection, and electrical interconnects .
- Experience performing power, load, voltage-drop, and electrical interface analyses for integrated systems.
- Experience with EMI/EMC design considerations and MIL-STD-461 compliance, testing, or troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with military environmental and electrical interface requirements, including applicable portions of MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-1275 , where required by the system design.
- Experience developing Technical Data Packages, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, cable drawings, BOMs, assembly documentation, interface control documentation, and test documentation.
- Experience supporting engineering verification, qualification testing, system integration, troubleshooting, and acceptance testing.
- Experience integrating commercial or ruggedized computing, networking, communications, power, and peripheral equipment into tactical or transportable systems.
- Experience supporting government programs such as Army PEO C3T, PdM CPMod, PdM CPI2 , or equivalent Department of Defense programs.
- Ability to evaluate complex engineering problems, develop practical solutions, and communicate technical recommendations to both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
