Job Description:
Job Summary
The Business Analyst will implement solutions to business problems within EDF’s installation of OpenLink Endur. They will work directly with business users to understand their business processes and their usage of the system, and will leverage their application expertise to design and implement improvements and new functionality in the system to solve business problems. They will produce documentation to support projects to implement their recommended solutions, which will include requirements documents, use cases, process diagrams, and test plans. They will also provide general system support for all users of the Endur application, which will include monitoring/resolution of job failures and investigation of trade booking/processing issues reported by users. This role will require periodic after hours work to support deployments of new functionality and to support the resolution of critical production issues.
Main Responsibilities
Technical Business Analysis
· Partner with key users, business leads, and project sponsors to understand the needs of the business, document them (via requirements documents, use cases and process diagrams), and determine the appropriate, most cost effective short and long term solutions to meet them.
· Evaluate user requirements and implement working solutions through system design, analysis, testing, training, and documentation.
· Perform evaluations of business solutions to identify pain points, process gaps, and incremental enhancements and work collaboratively with them to implement fit of purpose solutions.
· Serve as an internal point of contact whenever requirements need to be clarified.
· Interface with development staff during implementation to validate the solution against the requirements.
· Act as a liaison with business users and the Endur team to resolve technical issues.
· Ability to read, digest, and communicate complex subject matter to all levels and to influence personnel to accomplish the business purpose.
Project Management
· Manage projects to successful completion with limited direction – on time, on schedule and within budget.
· Lead cross functional work groups to identify and document detailed requirements, work flow, information sources and distribution paths and system specifications.
· Develop project plans including scope, schedule, and resource plans and then monitor and track project status and results to that plan.
· Proactively communicate, collaborate, and build relationships with business users, IT development and support teams, and with management.
· Proactively identify, document, and resolve project risks and issues.
· Provide reliable and informative project updates in project, team and/or steering committee meetings.
· Act as a liaison with business users and development to resolve issues that arise during development.
Testing
· Develop and implement test plans based on business requirements.
· Acquire and/or create test data and business process scenarios.
· Review/QA applications prior to submission for acceptance.
· Train users during system acceptance testing.
Implementation
· Manage implementation of new/upgraded systems for several business cycles, until steady state is reached – including software testing and user training.
· Ensure full elimination of legacy systems.
· Develop new business processes, including fallback operation modes.
· Manage post implementation enhancements.
· Prepare User Documentation/Operating Procedures as necessary.
Requirements and Qualifications:
· A minimum of 10 years Endur Business Analysis and design experience.
· A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
· Working knowledge of energy commodities trading, including:
o Physical trading of natural gas and power, and the associated logistics processes
o Derivatives trading, including linear financial instruments and options
o Credit risk management
o Market risk management, including VaR
o Mark-to-market and P&L calculation
o Confirmations and settlements
o Regulatory compliance
· Gas logistics expert, including gas storage, transport, and scheduling preferred.
· Endur G-Motion experience preferred.
· Knowledge of relational database designs and implementations.
· Desire and aptitude to learn and understand new and emerging technologies.
· Must have advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
· Competency in Visio or other process diagramming tools desired.
· Able to meet deadlines with limited supervision. Ability to work well under pressure.
· The ability to work independently or on a team exhibiting excellent multi-tasking skills.
· Strong organizational, analytical, as well as oral and written communication skills.
· Strong sense of ownership and accountability of tasks.
· A creative, innovative, analytical approach to problem solving is fundamental.
· Experience in supporting a 7 X 24 hour environment.
· Willing to travel as necessary.
