Position Summary

The Clinical Quality Control Scientist I (QS I) plays a key role in fostering growth and continuous improvement within the Biologics Quality Control team. Through ongoing development of technical expertise and a commitment to best practices, the colleague contributes to advancing the team’s standards for quality, compliance, and animal care.

In this position, the colleague is actively engaged in essential product release testing and upholds high standards in laboratory animal care, continually refining processes and attention to detail. By sharing evolving knowledge, supporting peers through routine challenges, and participating in training initiatives, the colleague helps build collective proficiency across the team. Collaboration with the team leader in coordinating testing schedules and animal distribution further supports operational efficiency and nurtures a cooperative, solutions-driven environment.

Position Responsibilities

• 1) Perform product release safety and potency testing under supervision, following established regulatory and company standards.

2) Maintain laboratory animal care by adhering to best practices and ethical responsibilities in accordance with IACUC, AAALAC, and other regulatory guidelines.

3) Accurately record laboratory observations and test results, and promptly report any deviations to senior team members.

4) Assist with monitoring and maintaining inventory levels of laboratory supplies and equipment to support consistent workflow and compliance.

5) Support the upkeep, cleanliness, and routine maintenance of laboratory facilities to promote a safe, organized, and regulatory-compliant working environment.

6) Develop an understanding of assigned testing requirements to communicate effectively with higher-level team members and the team leader regarding testing schedules and animal distribution.

7) Contribute to a collaborative and solutions-focused team environment by supporting continuous improvement initiatives and upholding ethical standards.

8) Build knowledge of the on-site IACUC, its expectations, and the application of Animal Usage Protocols (AUPs) in laboratory activities.

9) Participate in laboratory investigations as directed, assisting with data collection and reporting if necessary.

Education and Experience

• 2-to-4-year degree (science background preferred) and/or 1-3 years of relevant experience

Technical Skills Requirements

1) Animal care and handling experience

2) Experienced with the following software programs: Word, Excel, and Powerpoint

3) Knowledge of USDA, EU, and Animal Welfare Act guidelines

4) Experience with maintenance, ordering, testing, and other company-based programs

5) Willingness to positively embrace change and flexibility in adjusting to changing priorities

6) Strong attention to detail, ability to work well independently and as a part of a team, and towork effectively with people at all levels within the organization

7) Trouble-shooting skills

Physical Position Requirements

• Ability to walk, sit, or stand for extended periods.

• Ability to reach above shoulder level, bend/stoop, kneel, push/pull, and frequently handle/grip.

• Ability to work a scheduled 40-hour week with overtime as needed.

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Capabilities of performig physical labor.

• Flexibility to cover rotating weekend duties.
