Job Summary
Help launch and shape the future of inpatient oncology care at Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute. This is an exciting opportunity to join our inaugural Hematology Oncology Service at Brigham and Women’s Hospital as an Inpatient Responding Clinician, caring for patients during some of the most critical moments in their cancer journey.

We are seeking compassionate, highly motivated Nurse Practitioners to join Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute’s Inpatient Service at BWH. Full-time, part-time, and per-diem opportunities are available for clinicians who are energized by collaborative practice, complex patient care, and the chance to help build something new in the following areas:

• Ambulatory Malignant Hematology
• Ambulatory Neuro Oncology
• Inpatient Oncology
• Oncology Infusion Nurse Practitioner
• Solid Tumor Oncology Ambulatory

As a Nurse Practitioner, you will be a key member of the inpatient care team, providing thoughtful assessment, clinical management, and ongoing support for medical and surgical oncology patients. In this role, you will contribute to diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making, develop individualized plans of care, and partner closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary colleagues to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Essential Functions

Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care, counseling, and education to a designated inpatient oncology population.
Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations to support timely clinical assessment and care planning.
Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic studies to guide clinical decision-making.
Develop and implement individualized plans of care and follow-up based on diagnostic results, physical examination findings, and patient needs.
Prescribe medications and manage treatments in accordance with organizational policies, clinical standards, and regulatory requirements.
Complete accurate, timely, and high-quality documentation, including admission notes, progress notes, procedure notes, and discharge summaries.
Perform bedside procedures appropriate to the patient population, scope of practice, and clinical setting.
Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary colleagues to coordinate care and support safe transitions throughout the inpatient stay.

Qualifications

Education Master's Degree Nursing required.

Licenses and Credentials Nurse Practitioner [NP - State License] - Generic - HR Only required or Anesthetist, Certified Registered Nurse [CRNA - State License] - Generic - HR Only required or Certified Midwife [CM] - American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) required or Certified Nurse-Midwife [CNM] - American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) required or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist [CRNA - National Certification] - Generic - HR Only required or Midwife Sonography Certificate - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required or Midwife, Certified Nurse [State License] - Generic - HR Only required or Nurse Midwife Advanced Practice Controlled Substance Registration - Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration required or Experience

Prior experience as a nurse practitioner preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Expert clinical judgment skills to function in the independent role. - Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills in order to collaborate with patients’ families, staff and community health workers. - Ability to work with frequent stress resulting from busy clinical settings and changing organizational climate. - Ability to be self-directive and demonstrate initiative in addressing responsibilities of position. - Ability to utilize appropriate problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
