The Senior Electrical Engineer & Office Leader plays a pivotal role in shaping the electrical infrastructure of advanced semiconductor fabrication facilities while building and leading a high-performing local office. This position combines deep technical expertise in complex, large-scale electrical design with strategic leadership in team development, client relationships, and business growth. You will lead the design and delivery of mission-critical and high-tech facilities in a collaborative, design-build environment, mentor engineering teams, and serve as a trusted advisor to sophisticated semiconductor and advanced manufacturing clients. Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design and delivery of complex semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, mission-critical, and high-tech facility projects from concept through construction.
- Provide technical leadership to electrical engineering teams and ensure high-quality, coordinated design deliverables are completed on schedule.
- Design and oversee medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution systems, including substations, switchgear, transformers, motor control centers (MCCs), switchboards, panelboards, busway systems, and critical power infrastructure.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, process, structural, architectural, and construction teams to ensure integrated project delivery and constructability.
- Perform and review power system studies, including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, load flow, harmonic, and motor starting analyses.
- Lead QA/QC reviews and ensure designs meet applicable codes, client requirements, and industry best practices.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers to support their professional growth.
- Stay current on electrical codes, emerging technologies, and industry trends impacting mission-critical and industrial facilities, and apply this knowledge to projects.
- Develop and maintain engineering standards, specifications, and design practices that improve consistency, quality, and efficiency across projects.
- Lead and grow the local electrical engineering team, ensuring appropriate staffing and capability to support project demands.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing office culture focused on quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
- Support hiring, mentoring, performance development, and succession planning initiatives within the office.
- Champion technical growth through training, licensure support, and professional development programs for engineering staff.
- Promote knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous improvement across the engineering organization.
- Serve as a liaison between engineering staff and firm leadership, ensuring clear communication of priorities, project status, and business objectives.
- Encourage cross-discipline collaboration to improve project outcomes and team effectiveness.
- Support office operations, workforce planning, and team engagement initiatives to build a strong, cohesive office environment.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, and high-tech clients.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor and strategic partner to clients throughout project delivery.
- Lead or support project pursuits, including proposals, client presentations, fee development, and contract negotiations.
- Represent the firm at client meetings, industry conferences, and professional organizations to enhance visibility and credibility in the marketplace.
- Coordinate with utilities, permitting agencies, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), contractors, and consultants to support successful project execution.
- Partner with business development and operations leaders to identify new opportunities and grow market share in semiconductor and high-tech sectors.
- Help develop and maintain a strong project pipeline by expanding existing client relationships and securing new work.
- Build strong partnerships with contractors, equipment vendors, and specialty consultants to enhance project delivery and client value.
Essential Skills
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing within the U.S., with the ability to obtain reciprocity in additional states as required.
- 10+ years of electrical engineering experience with a strong and demonstrated focus on semiconductors, advanced high-tech industrial, cleanroom, or mission-critical facility design.
- Proven leadership experience managing and guiding internal electrical engineering design teams through all project phases within a design-build delivery model.
- Demonstrated experience in office leadership, people management, or team development.
- Strong technical expertise in electrical engineering and design for complex, large-scale facilities.
- Experience designing medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution systems, including substations, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, switchboards, panelboards, busway systems, and critical power systems.
- Experience performing or overseeing power system studies, including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, load flow, harmonic, and motor starting analyses.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex electrical engineering concepts to diverse audiences including engineers, project managers, trade contractors, client technical leadership, and community stakeholders.
- Proven ability to build and sustain client relationships and contribute to business development activities.
- Experience participating in proposal development, scope definition, client interviews, and relationship cultivation within the semiconductor and high-tech manufacturing industry.
- Demonstrated experience fostering an inclusive team culture and a commitment to mentoring and developing technical professionals.
- Experience delivering code-compliant, technically precise electrical designs for semiconductor, high-tech, or comparable mission-critical facilities.
- Proficiency working in a design-build environment, collaborating closely with construction partners.
- Experience with electrical engineering in semiconductor, data center, or other mission-critical environments.
- Professional experience that reflects strong financial management awareness and understanding of project economics.
- Experience with business development activities and strategic client engagement.
- Project management capabilities, including planning, coordination, and oversight of complex engineering work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Direct experience with semiconductor wafer fabrication facility electrical design.
- Familiarity with sub-fab electrical distribution strategies and process tool electrical utility matrices.
- Knowledge of arc-resistant switchgear design and application.
- Knowledge of selective coordination strategies for mission-critical power systems.
- Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) are beneficial.
- Experience engaging with industry conferences and professional organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to support training, licensure, and professional development programs.
- Experience developing engineering standards, specifications, and best practices.
- Strong business acumen and comfort working closely with business development and operations leaders.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $90.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
