About this role

Welcome to Lava Island

Lava Island is an indoor play oasis where kids fly across trampolines, dive into foam pits, race down slides, and disappear into towering jungle gyms while families share pizza and celebrate birthdays. It is loud, bright, and full of energy, and it is the kind of place where memories happen without warning.

Every one of those parks takes a team to bring to life. Magma Core Solutions (MCS) builds them. Active Play Solutions (APS) makes the playgrounds and jump decks inside them. Our HQ team in Denver supports all of it.

What You're Really Building

Behind every new park is a set of numbers: what it cost to build, what the play equipment cost to make, what has been paid, what is still owed, and how all of it ties back to Epic Parks, the company that runs the park. You are the person who keeps those numbers right.

MCS and APS are growing fast, and many of the processes behind them are still being built. This is not about maintaining an existing department. You will help build the financial foundation these companies grow on. When a park opens on budget and the books close clean behind it, that is your work.

Why You'll Love Working at Lava Island

- A real step up. Lead the accounting for two growing companies, working closely with the CFO.

- One connected picture. Construction, production, and cash all come together in one seat.

- Build something. The processes and controls are being set up now, and you help decide how they run.

- Work you can see. Every number ties to a park families will fill.

- Room to grow as the companies scale, including building out a team.

- Denver home base, in office alongside the leaders you support.

- Competitive salary, medical, dental, and vision, and employee perks.

What You'll Do

You will lead the accounting for MCS and APS as one role, with one connected set of books to keep right.

Close and report

- Lead the monthly close and deliver accurate, timely financial statements for both companies.

- Keep balance sheet reconciliations current and work discrepancies through to resolution.

- Support tax, audit, insurance, and banking requests alongside the CFO.

Follow the builds

- Review park build budgets, track actual costs, and keep job costing accurate by project.

- Review subcontractor pay applications and lien waivers, manage retainage, and prepare owner pay applications to Epic Parks.

- Review contracts and change orders from the accounting side, in partnership with the MCS Project Manager.

Follow the production floor

- Account for raw materials, work in progress, finished goods, and cost of goods sold.

- Partner with production leadership on accurate product costing, and help build inventory tracking and controls.

- Prepare progress billing.

Manage the cash

- Manage cash flow and payment timing across both companies.

- Coordinate subcontractor, vendor, and accounts payable payments, with the right documentation in place first.

- Keep intercompany accounting between MCS, APS, and Epic Parks accurate and reconciled.

Build the foundation

- Put practical procedures and internal controls in place as the companies scale.

- Review the work of shared accounting support, and help build out the team as the work grows.

- Work in Procore and QuickBooks, and help shape how the systems grow with the business.

Who We're Looking For

This is a growth seat for someone with strong fundamentals who is ready to take on more. The people who do well here are:

- Hands-on. You do the work and take responsibility for the result.

- Detail-driven. You dig into transactions and catch issues before they reach the financials.

- Business-minded. You understand how a build or a production run affects profit and cash.

- A builder. You are comfortable where processes are still taking shape, and you bring structure without overcomplicating it.

- A confident communicator. You work directly with leadership, vendors, and subcontractors, and you explain the numbers in plain terms.

- Proactive. You surface issues early and bring options.

- Quick to learn. If construction or manufacturing accounting is new to you, you pick it up fast.

What You'll Need

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

- Approximately five or more years of progressive accounting experience, including preparing and reviewing financial statements.

- Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual accounting.

- Experience with month-end close, cash management, and balance sheet reconciliations.

- Strong Excel skills.

- Comfort working independently and carrying problems through to resolution.

Nice to have

- Construction accounting experience, including pay applications, retainage, lien waivers, and job costing.

- Manufacturing accounting experience, including inventory, work in progress, and product costing.

- Procore and QuickBooks experience.

- Multi-entity and intercompany accounting experience.

- CPA, or progress toward one.

A full job description can be shared and walked through with you during the process, so you have the complete picture before moving forward.
