The Work
This role is to be a Lead Software Engineer (LSWE) on the Weapons Integration Team of the F-35 Pilot Training Device (aircraft simulator). The Weapon Integration Team's mission is to integrate weapon platforms capable of being carried by the F-35 in a simulation environemnt for the purpose of mission rehersal training for F-35 pilots.
Specific expectations of the role include:
* Ensure software designs align to the requirements and performance baselines
* Provide software license needs to the program LSWE and 3PC
* Oversee the closure of Software Pre-Release Bugs (PRBs)
* Act as the single POC/Lead for the Software Engineering activities on the IPT
* Ensure that the program's Software Engineering processes/procedures and other required process assets are defined and followed
* Contribute to the Development and Maintenance of the Software Development Plan (SDP), and ensure implementation at the IPT level
* Establish and track Software Engineering Technical Performance Measures (TPMs) at the IPT level
* Ensure the flow-down of Software Engineering requirements to subcontractors
* Guide program development of the Software Engineering portion of program's multi-functional resource/schedule estimates at the IPT level
* Ensure adequate trades, simulations, and analyses are performed at the IPT level
* Be responsible for the development of Software Architecture at the IPT level
* Support the Software Architect in ensuring that common solutions are implemented to common software problems across IPTs
* Ensure the quality of software engineering work products at the IPT level
* Ensure implementation of peer reviews required for each work product in the Software Development Plan at the IPT level
* Champion continuous improvement activities for the SW Engineering discipline and adopt 1LMX techniques and approaches at the IPT level
The information below reflects the standard job description for this position:
Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities. Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met.
Basic Qualifications
* Demonstrated experience in full life cycle of (software-centric) systems or software engineering projects
* Demonstrated understanding of Agile methodologies
* 7 or more years of experience in software engineering with C++
* Familiarity with Git version‑control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks
* Strong background in software development lifecycle (SDLC), change control, and configuration management
* Hands‑on experience with code reviews, static analysis, and unit‑testing frameworks (GoogleTest, CMock)
* Collaborative mindset and a commitment to continuous learning
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
Desired Skills
* Strong command of software architecture, design patterns, and system integration for mission‑critical platforms
* Experience with modern C++ (C++11 and later)
* Experience with gRPC and Protocol Buffers (Protobuf)
* Experience with simulation products or similar
* Experience with integrating and validating third-party black box software components
* Recent formal/informal leadership experience
* Track record of defining technical roadmaps, setting coding standards, and driving architectural decisions
* Experience supporting missile integration software on air vehicle platforms
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $120600.00 - $224000.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
