A day in the life of a Wholesale Planning Manager at The North Face looks a little like this.
Reporting to the Director, Marketplace Planning + Allocation, you will work within the Wholesale Planning function, supporting the North America region. You'll partner closely with teams across Sales, Finance, Merchandising, Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Customer Operations, and Marketplace Analytics to drive financial and inventory performance across our wholesale channel. You will serve as the primary business partner to the Wholesale Sales organization — translating market demand into clear, actionable forecasts and supporting sustainable commercial growth.
Let's break down that day-in-the-life a bit more:
- You will build and maintain wholesale sales forecasts — seasonal, monthly, and weekly. You'll partner with Sales and Finance to manage revenue, margin, inventory, and Gross-to-Net (GTN) performance.
- You will monitor in-season performance across accounts — tracking sell-in, shipments, cancellations, and returns. You'll lead weekly and monthly business reviews to keep cross-functional teams aligned and accountable.
- You will own account-level sell-out and sell-through performance, connecting consumer demand signals to shipment pacing, forecast updates, and inventory decisions. You'll evaluate inventory health across accounts, categories, franchises, and styles.
- You will identify risks, opportunities, and demand shifts — from over-inventory situations to replenishment gaps. You'll work with Sales and customers on clear corrective actions.
- You will manage Gross-to-Net (GTN) performance, including promotional investments, markdowns, discounts, and accruals, ensuring commercial strategies stay aligned with financial objectives.
- You will serve as a planning thought partner for the Wholesale Sales team, providing business analysis, insights, and recommendations that improve customer performance at the account and category level.
- You will collaborate with Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Customer Operations, and Logistics to ensure inventory availability, escalate supply risks, and support disposition strategies for excess inventory.
- You will build reporting, dashboards, and business insights that drive better decisions — and champion continuous improvement in planning processes, tools, and automation.
