Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking professional, innovative, and detailed individuals for our Buyer II position. If you are looking for an opportunity to build supplier partnerships, and support R&D, this position is for you!
As a Buyer III a typical day might include the following:
- Adhering to purchasing policies and practices to ensure highest quality, appropriate inventory levels, timely delivery, and competitive cost from suppliers.
- Executing strategic sourcing plans to support company objectives.
- Identifying risks to SEL's supply chain and report to management; including overall market trends, capacity constraints, commodity risks, and business conditions for manufacturers and suppliers.
- Creating and improving supplier partnerships by identifying areas for improvement, escalating issues to management and executing corrective action plans in accordance with World Class Manufacturing principles.
- Demonstrating and leading others on business professionalism, purchasing fundamentals, time management, data analytics, supply chain management, supplier development, cost reduction strategy development and negotiation techniques.
This job might be for you if:
- You hold a B.A./B.S. degree in business, operations, or supply chain; or a combination of relevant education and experience
- You have 3 or more years of experience
- You have intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel
- You have familiarity working with MRP/ERP systems
- You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
Preferred Qualifications
- APICS certification and/or ISM certification
- Understanding of electronics technology, manufacturing methods and total quality process
- Experience working with MRP/ERP systems

Pay Range:
Buyer II $69,000 - $88,000. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the pay range may differ if filled at a different level. Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
