Job Description
The Role
As a Graduate Structural Engineer, you will have the opportunity to develop both your technical engineering expertise and project delivery skills . Working under the guidance of experienced engineers and project managers, you will contribute to the delivery of complex infrastructure projects while gaining exposure to project planning, stakeholder engagement, commercial management, and multidisciplinary coordination.
This role is ideal for graduates who are interested in building a career that combines strong technical capability with future leadership and project management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Responsibilities
- Assist in the structural assessment, analysis, and design of bridges, marine structures, rail infrastructure, buildings, and other transport assets.
- Support inspections, condition assessments, load ratings, rehabilitation studies, and engineering investigations.
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
- Participate in site inspections, construction support activities, and engineering assurance reviews.
- Apply Australian Standards, client requirements, and engineering best practice principles to project delivery.
- Contribute to innovative engineering solutions, digital engineering initiatives, and sustainable infrastructure outcomes.
Project Management & Delivery Responsibilities
- Support project managers in the planning and delivery of projects across the asset lifecycle.
- Assist with project scheduling, resource planning, cost tracking, and progress reporting.
- Participate in project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Help manage project risks, opportunities, quality requirements, and safety obligations.
- Support multidisciplinary collaboration across transport, civil, maritime, geotechnical, environmental, and construction teams.
- Develop commercial awareness by contributing to project budgeting, change management, and proposal preparation activities.
- Build communication and stakeholder management skills through client interactions and project workshops.
Qualifications
Essential
- Final-year student or recent graduate with a Bachelor's or Postgraduate Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- Strong interest in structural engineering and infrastructure projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- This role is for the 2027 Graduate Program. Commencement is from February 2027 - August 2027.
Desirable
- Exposure to structural analysis and design software.
- Previous internship, vacation work, or industry experience in consulting, construction, or infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated interest in project management, leadership, and project delivery.
