About this role

The Marketing Manager develops and implements program marketing strategies intended to drive adoption of energy-efficient products, services, and practices in the market.

The Marketing Manager works closely with NEEAs Program Management team to ensure NEEA is employing marketing best practices as well as measuring and optimizing marketing effectiveness across NEEAs portfolio of Market Transformation programs. This includes aligning marketing strategies for key programs with external stakeholders and across internal matrixed teams.

Marketing is a highly integrated component of NEEAs Market Transformation work, and the Marketing Manager must possess exceptional collaboration skills and a strong ability to identify, leverage, and coordinate opportunities across markets.

This position is based in the Portland, OR metro area, with a hybrid work location. We are looking for candidates who can meet the requirement of working at least 2 days per week onsite at NEEAs office location. Finalists must have eligibility to work in the US as NEEA is not able to provide VISA sponsorship or have remote work outside of the US.

Salary range: $85,000 - $95,000, exempt

- Salary is based on the applicants Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.

The Typical Day May Include

- Driving marketing strategy and annual integrated marketing plan development as a core member of cross-functional program teams, ensuring economies of scale and the capture of coordination opportunities across programs and projects.

- Demonstrating a deep understanding of program goals and confidently directing execution of program marketing strategies with limited oversight.

- Developing and ensuring NEEA implements marketing best practices across program marketing activities.

- Optimizing and measuring the effectiveness of marketing efforts. .

- Identifying marketing opportunities by analyzing market research and evaluations on a regular basis.

- In conjunction with the Market Research Department, ensuring consumer messaging and other marketing efforts reflect the audience and end-user needs.

- Partnering with the Stakeholder Relations team, coordinating with utility programs, and ensuring a high level of stakeholder communication and engagement around NEEA marketing efforts.

- Collaborating with NEEAs Corporate Communications team to tell Market Transformation success stories that demonstrate the value and impact of NEEAs work across the region.

- Performing other duties which may be necessary or desirable to support the organizations success.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. This position is responsible for supervising and managing the work of contractors. The Marketing Manager provides leadership, direction, and guidance to his or her teams and contractors, and provides assistance to management in achieving work group success.

Qualifications

Your Experience, Education, and Skills:

- BA or BS degree in Marketing, Business or related field.

- 8+ years of professional experience in business-to-business (B2B) marketing, communications, and brand development/management.

- Intermediate level of expertise with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

Marketing Skills

- Experience with all aspects of marketing communications (e.g., messaging, collateral, PR, web, social marketing, advertising), and ability to successfully design and oversee high-quality integrated marketing programs.

- Ability to interpret market trends, research, and business results and translate them into marketing strategies that advance program goals.

- Proven ability to ideate and incorporate fresh approaches and technology solutions to improve marketing program design, implementation, and management.

Communication Skills

- Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to speak and write clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.

- Demonstration of superb group presentation skills, with the ability to vary communication style to meet audience types and needs.

- Ability to edit marketing plans and materials with consistently clear and strategic feedback.

Strategic Planning Skills

- Demonstrated short- and long-term business and market planning skills.

- Ability to align marketing initiatives with strategic goals and anticipate both barriers and opportunities.

- Ability to prioritize and plan work activities while remaining flexible and enthusiastic about supporting the program team and goals.

Project Management Skills

- Strong expertise in directly managing marketing projects as well as directing contractor staff on program deliverables.

- Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage the resources available.

- Experience leading RFPs as well as hiring and managing marketing contractors to implement assigned projects.

Collaboration and Problem-Solving Skills

- Strong interpersonal and judgment skills to work collaboratively and influence team members and contractors to implement marketing plans.

- Ability to work successfully on cross-functional teams, exercise discretion, and resolve competing priorities, as well as resolve conflict when needed.

- Ability to skillfully gather data, analyze information, and recommend changes in direction as needed.

- Ability to resolve complex problems with creative and alternative solutions.

Preferred Education, Experience & Abilities:

- Masters, MBA, or related advanced degree.

- Experience with behavior change and social marketing.

- Experience in an energy, utility, or regulatory environment a strong plus, as is knowledge and/or experience with energy efficiency.

- Agency account management experience a plus.

- Experience with Asana, Hubspot, and Salesforce strongly preferred.
