# Job Description Summary
The Lead Quality Production Engineer – Generator Final Assembly is responsible for driving product quality, process excellence, and manufacturing compliance throughout the final assembly of large utility generators. This role serves as the quality leader supporting production operations, ensuring all generator assembly activities meet customer requirements, engineering specifications, regulatory standards, and GE Vernova's Quality Management System (QMS).
The position partners closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, EHS, Services, and Customer Quality teams to eliminate defects, improve process capability, enhance first-pass yield, and ensure generators are delivered safely, on time, and with zero quality escapes.
This role requires a strong technical background in heavy manufacturing, root cause analysis, quality systems, lean manufacturing, and generator assembly processes.
Job Description
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality Leadership
- Lead quality assurance activities supporting Generator Final Assembly operations.
- Drive a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the primary quality focal point during production build and customer inspections.
- Ensure adherence to GE Vernova Quality Management System requirements and customer specifications.
Production Quality Management
- Monitor production quality metrics including: First Pass Yield (FPY) Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) Defect rates Rework and scrap Customer complaints Internal quality escapes
- Develop and execute corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Analyze quality trends and establish improvement plans.
Generator Final Assembly Oversight
Provide quality support for:
- Rotor assembly and installation
- Stator assembly operations
- Air gap verification
- Electrical and mechanical inspection activities
- Torque verification processes
- Alignment and balancing operations
- Final testing preparation
- Documentation and customer release packages
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
- Lead RCCA investigations utilizing: 8D Methodology DMAIC A3 Problem Solving Fishbone Analysis 5 Why Analysis FMEA
- Drive sustainable corrective actions.
- Facilitate cross-functional quality improvement initiatives.
Process Validation & Controls
- Develop and maintain: Control Plans Process Flow Diagrams Inspection Plans Standard Work Instructions Quality Gates
- Validate manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Conduct risk assessments and process audits.
Supplier & Component Quality
- Support supplier quality investigations affecting generator assembly.
- Collaborate with Supplier Quality Engineers on non-conforming materials.
- Drive containment and resolution activities to prevent production disruptions.
Customer Quality Support
- Interface with customers during witness inspections and audits.
- Support customer issue resolution and technical reviews.
- Ensure all contractual quality requirements are fulfilled before shipment.
Compliance & Auditing
- Ensure compliance with: ISO 9001 requirements GE Vernova Quality Standards Regulatory and industry requirements Customer contractual specifications
- Lead internal audits and support external audits.
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Utilize quality and manufacturing data to identify trends and risks.
- Present quality performance to plant leadership and business stakeholders.
- Develop KPI dashboards and improvement action plans.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Industrial Engineering Quality Engineering Materials Engineering Or related technical field OR a High School Diploma with at least 6 years of experience in manufacturing
- Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing / quality experience
- Experience supporting complex industrial manufacturing operations
- Experience leading quality improvement initiatives

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS
- Experience supporting heavy industrial products, rotating equipment, power generation equipment, turbines, generators, or large-scale assemblies
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
- Experience with new product introduction or introduction of new components to include development and documentation of processes and training of new operators
- Past ISO and Auditing Experience.
- 8D, 5 Why problem-solving experience and expertise to aide and direct other Quality Engineers through the problem-solving process
- Experience with Auditing and establishing and audit process.
- ASQ Certifications: Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB)
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
- Experience in: Gas turbine manufacturing Generator manufacturing Energy or power generation industries Aerospace or highly regulated manufacturing environments

Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes
For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $91,700.00 and $152,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
