About the Role
MiniMed is looking for a Calibration/Metrology Technician IV to support our Northridge, CA facility. This is a full-time, onsite position requiring five days onsite per week. The normal work schedule may be either 6:30 AM–3:00 PM or 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, depending on business needs. There may also be occasional on-call requirements to support production issues that require the technician to come onsite outside of normal working hours. These situations are expected to be infrequent.
The Metrology Technician IV will be responsible for performing and supporting complex calibration, measurement, troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, and Metrology activities. The position requires a high degree of technical independence and the ability to interpret technical requirements, investigate equipment issues, and support continuous improvement of Metrology processes.
Key Responsibilities may include:
- Perform calibration, verification, adjustment, and maintenance of electronic, electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, optical, pneumatic, temperature, pressure, and other measurement and test equipment.
- Independently troubleshoot complex measurement and calibration equipment and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Perform calibration activities in accordance with approved procedures, specifications, drawings, manufacturer requirements, and applicable standards.
- Develop or support calibration methods, sequences, procedures, and measurement approaches based on technical requirements.
- Evaluate calibration results, measurement data, and equipment performance and identify conditions requiring further investigation.
- Support Out-of-Tolerance (OOT), nonconformance, and calibration-related investigations, including data review and documentation.
- Disassemble, clean, repair, replace, and/or coordinate repair of defective components on applicable test and measurement equipment.
- Maintain accurate calibration records, documentation, and equipment history in the Metrology management system.
- Use IndySoft for calibration management, equipment records, scheduling, work orders, and related Metrology activities. IndySoft experience is preferred.
- Support calibration vendor activities, including review of calibration documentation and communication with external service providers as needed.
- Support process improvement and Lean initiatives within the Metrology organization to improve efficiency, quality, turnaround time, and overall effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities to improve calibration processes, procedures, systems, and workflows and work with management and cross-functional teams to implement improvements.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and support to lower-level Metrology technicians and may coordinate or review the work of other technicians.
- Support Metrology projects, including complex testing, data analysis, technical documentation, and implementation of process improvements.
- Work effectively with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Facilities, Laboratory, and other cross-functional teams to support business and compliance requirements.
- Maintain compliance with applicable company procedures, quality requirements, calibration standards, and data-integrity expectations.
- May participate in investigations, audits, and other activities requiring technical Metrology expertise.
Level IV Expectations
- As a Level IV technician, the individual should be capable of working with a high degree of autonomy and handling technically complex assignments.
- The position may provide technical leadership to other technicians, assist with training and delegation of work, review work products, and support the Metrology supervisor/manager with technical decisions and process improvements.
- The individual should also be comfortable working on projects, analyzing technical data, identifying problems, developing solutions, and communicating findings and recommendations to the broader team.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of calibration/Metrology experience .
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational, technical, or specialized Metrology training/certification is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience calibrating and troubleshooting a variety of measurement and test equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, specifications, drawings, schematics, and equipment documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Experien ce:
- Experience using a computerized calibration management system; IndySoft experience is preferred .
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing, laboratory, medical device, pharmaceutical, or similar environment is preferred.
- Experience with calibration documentation, traceability, and quality-system requirements is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
TECHNICIAN SUPPORT CAREER STREAM:
- Provides technical support in areas such as production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement or product development.
- Uses schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment or systems.
- Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data using established formulae and procedures, and performs detailed mathematical calculations.
- For higher levels, may suggest and/or make improvements to optimize work processes.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):
For roles located in California, Seattle WA, Washington DC, Boston MA, and New York City, the salary range is $63,000.00 - $107.00 USD.
Actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, education, certifications, skills, market conditions, internal equity, and geographic location. Compensation and benefits information pertain solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others)
