About the Role - Tēnei tūranga:

Are you an experienced analyst who can turn complex evidence into clear, defensible insights and reporting that stands up to scrutiny? Do you enjoy combining quantitative and qualitative analysis, solving data-quality problems, and explaining what investment activity is delivering for communities and regions?

Kānoa is seeking a Senior Performance Analyst to join the Business Systems and Intelligence (BSI) team. Working within the Analysis and Evaluation domain, you'll help deliver performance, outcomes and evaluation reporting for Kānoa investments, with a particular focus on the Regional Infrastructure Fund.

You'll lead substantial analytical products and projects, bringing together financial, administrative and external data to generate clear, evidence-based insights. Your work will contribute to ministerial briefings, public reporting, annual reports, evaluations and benefits assessments.

Working closely with analytical, data and business partners across MBIE, you'll translate complex information into practical advice that supports investment accountability and informed decision-making.

Skills and Experience Required - Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana

We're looking for someone with:

- Strong experience in monitoring, evaluation, performance measurement or outcomes analysis

- Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, including interpreting complex evidence and identifying insights

- Experience developing performance reports, evaluations and advice for senior stakeholders

- Proficiency with analytical and visualisation tools such as Excel, Power BI, SQL, R or Python

- Experience resolving data quality issues and applying robust quality assurance processes

- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities

- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

- An understanding of public sector accountability and machinery of government

- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional experience

- Legal right to live and work in New Zealand
