About this role
About Origin
Origin (previously 10xConstruction) is building general-purpose autonomous robots for US construction to tackle rising costs, safety risks and labour shortages. Our modular, multi-trade platform combines purpose-built hardware with real-time site intelligence to navigate complex environments and execute tasks with precision. Trained in high-fidelity simulation and already deployed on live sites, our robots deliver faster execution, stronger project economics and meaningful cost savings. Join India's talent-dense robotics team, with colleagues from IITs, Stanford, UCLA and other leading institutions.
About the role
As an Embedded QA Tester, you will run electrical and embedded tests on our robots, sub-assemblies and test benches. You will follow written test procedures, record results accurately and report failures clearly so the engineering team can fix issues before robots ship to site. You will report to the Embedded QA Engineer and work closely with the assembly, hardware and software teams.
Key responsibilities
Run automated and manual tests
- Run ready-made test scripts on the robot and test benches from a laptop terminal, following the test procedure step by step.
- Power up, connect and set up the robot or sub-assembly safely before each test run.
- Watch the test output and record pass/fail for every test case.
Run basic electrical tests by hand
- Measure voltage, current, resistance and continuity with a digital multimeter.
- Check wiring harnesses, connectors, crimps and cable routing against drawings and checklists.
- Check power supplies, batteries, fuses, emergency-stop circuits and indicator LEDs.
- Record all readings on test sheets and mark any out-of-limit values.
Report failures
- Log each failed test case in the test management tool with the test ID, unit serial number, observed result, expected result, logs and photos.
- Flag safety issues and blocking failures to the QA lead immediately.
- Retest units after fixes and close the related reports.
General
- Follow ESD, lockout and electrical safety rules at all times.
- Keep test equipment, cables and the test area organised and in calibration.
- Suggest clearer test steps when a procedure is confusing or out of date.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Diploma or ITI in Electrical, Electronics, EEE, ECE or Mechatronics. A B.E./B.Tech in these fields is also welcome.
- 1–3 years of experience in electrical testing, electronics assembly, maintenance or QA. Freshers with hands-on lab or project work are encouraged to apply.
- Basic electrical and electronics fundamentals: Ohm's law, series and parallel circuits, AC vs DC, and common components (resistors, capacitors, diodes, relays, fuses).
- Able to read simple wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
- Comfortable working on a computer. No programming background is needed.
Skills required
Technical
- Using a digital multimeter for voltage, current, resistance and continuity checks.
- Using a bench power supply safely. A clamp meter or oscilloscope is a plus.
- Spotting common wiring faults: loose connectors, bad crimps, damaged insulation, shorts and open circuits.
- Running terminal commands or scripts from written steps (Linux or Windows).
- Basic computer skills: file handling, spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) and email.
- Awareness of electrical safety and ESD handling.
Soft skills
- Attention to detail and patience with repeated tests.
- Follows written procedures exactly and asks when something is unclear.
- Clear, factual written reports on what failed and how.
- Good English communication. Kannada or Hindi is helpful on the shop floor.
- Works well with assembly, hardware and software teams.
Good to have
- Exposure to robots, industrial automation, EVs or battery-powered equipment.
- Basic soldering and crimping.
- Familiarity with sensors, motors, motor drivers or PLCs.
- Prior use of a bug or test tracking tool.
