As an ICT Colo Regional Engineer Intern, you will join a global engineering team rethinking the design of the critical communications pathways that connect the various pieces of hardware inside AWS' data centers. You will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. You will work with the design team to develop pathway and cabling solutions for the physical layer, and be the 'go to' engineering resource for your region when technical advice on connectivity is needed.

You will prioritize your activities to support data center capacity delivery, availability and safety, focusing on the actions that are most impactful. Key job responsibilities
Support the design and equipment submittal review of scalable fiber optic & copper plant (physical-layer connectivity) for new Data Centers in your region.
Support the review of ICT design, materials, and equipment submittals.
Help identify, coordinate, and respond to risks and high-priority connectivity issues.
Support new technology and design initiatives that improve processes, infrastructure quality, and reduce cost and installation time.
Interface with internal data center design engineering, server hardware, and environmental health and safety teams to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered.
Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.

A day in the life
Each day you will interact with different teams responsible for all aspects of the data centers. You will prioritize your activities to support data center capacity delivery, availability and safety, focusing on the actions that are most impactful. You will have the opportunity to work on projects locally and globally.
Working alongside internal business teams and colocation vendors, you will help identify, document, and resolve operational and design deficiencies in the physical-layer connectivity that could impact a site's capability or availability. Under the guidance of experienced ICT engineers, you will build your subject matter expertise in fiber optic and copper cabling systems and grow into a trusted engineering resource for your region.

About the team
The ICT Colo Engineering Team is a new, fast-growing, and leading-edge engineering team that is rethinking the design for the critical communications pathways that connect the various pieces of hardware inside AWS' data centers. As part of a global team of Mechanical, Electrical, and Control Engineers, we develop connectivity solutions for the physical layer - providing pathway and cabling designs and specifications for construction and permitting, and working with industry suppliers and manufacturers to develop product requirements and recommend new technologies.

Basic Qualifications

- Currently pursuing Bachelor/Master degree
- Studying Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer/Network Engineering or other equivalent technical discipline
- Previous knowledge of structured cabling, fiber optic and/or copper communications systems, or network physical infrastructure
- Candidates must be able to legally work in Singapore.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous coursework or knowledge of data/telecommunications cabling standards (e.g. TIA/ISO structured cabling)
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
- Experience using a variety of web based and other software tools for calculation and data processing
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
