We are currently hiring a Fullstack Developer to join our Smart Cloud Factory Team in Lisbon

The Smart Cloud Factory is dedicated to transforming traditional manufacturing into a fully connected, intelligent, and sustainable Smart Factory. The factory leverages digitalized and automated manufacturing processes, real-time data integration and analytics, sustainable and energy-efficient production systems, and human-machine collaboration to achieve Volkswagen’s vision of a Software-Enabled Car Company.

The Smart Cloud Factory supports the integration of IoT, cloud platforms, data pipelines, and AI to enable predictive maintenance, real-time quality control, and agile manufacturing. The factory aims to simplify complexity and create a connected ecosystem where machines, systems, and people work seamlessly together.

What will your responsibilities be?

- Develop and maintain responsive, user-friendly web applications using React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and SCSS.

- Design and develop scalable backend services and APIs using Python, Node.js, or equivalent frameworks.

- Build and integrate REST APIs and external services, ensuring reliable communication between frontend, backend, databases, and third-party systems.

- Design and work with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including data modelling, queries, and application integration.

- Translate business requirements and UI/UX concepts into robust, maintainable technical solutions.

- Collaborate with UI/UX and business teams, using tools such as Figma, to create intuitive and consistent user experiences.

- Develop reusable components and contribute to common development standards, libraries, and design systems.

- Apply software engineering best practices related to code quality, testing, security, performance, scalability, and maintainability.

- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development practices within the team.

- Support application deployment and operation in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

- Work with version control and CI/CD practices using Git and automated deployment pipelines.

- Collaborate with Data and AI engineers to integrate data-driven and AI-based capabilities into applications when applicable.

- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across the application stack.

- Participate actively in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, refinement, reviews, and team discussions.

- Engage directly with different stakeholders to understand business needs and contribute to defining appropriate technical solutions.

What requirements are we looking for?

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

- Experience in fullstack software development.

- Some experience using Figma (or equivalent) to translate product requirements into user-friendly interfaces, applying core UI/UX design principles. Creating wireframes, design systems, and interactive prototypes.

- Strong experience in frontend technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Tailwind, Vite and TanStack,.

- Experience developing backend applications or services using Python (FastAPI), Next.js, Node.js, or similar technologies.

- Experience designing and consuming REST and GraphQL APIs.

- Knowledge of databases and data modelling, preferably with experience in SQL and relational databases.

- Understanding of modern software development principles, including clean code, modular architecture, testing, and version control.

- Familiarity with Git and CI/CD practices.

- Experience with or interest in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand both technical and business requirements.

- Proactive mindset and willingness to take ownership of solutions from development through delivery.

- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary and international team.

- Good communication skills and ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Good English, spoken and written; German is a plus.
