As the Senior Bids Manager, you’ll lead the firm’s bid and tender program, partnering with senior stakeholders to sharpen value propositions, improve win rates, and ensure bid excellence across the board.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead end‑to‑end management of complex and strategic tenders, panel appointments and major pitch opportunities, including international or multi‑service bids where relevant.
- Work closely with the partners to qualify opportunities, define win strategies and themes, and decide where to invest bid effort.
- Analyse client/tender documentation to identify requirements, evaluation criteria, risks, pricing sensitivities and key dates, and translate these into a detailed bid plan and governance pathway.
- Oversee drafting, tailoring and quality‑assuring bid content, ensuring responses are client‑centric, outcomes‑focused and clearly differentiate the firm’s expertise, methodology and value.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs (partners, technical specialists, finance, risk, HR, IT) and manage timelines, milestones and sign‑offs to deliver bids on time and to the required standard.
- Ensure rigorous compliance with client instructions, government or panel rules, and internal risk, confidentiality and independence requirements.
- Partner with design/marketing colleagues to produce visually polished documents and presentations that align with brand guidelines and enhance readability.
- Lead preparation for pitch presentations, including narrative structure, slide decks, run‑throughs and coaching of presenters to ensure clear, consistent messaging.
- Own and continually improve the firm’s bid infrastructure: content library, credentials, CV bank, templates, style guides and use of proposal/AI tools.
- Monitor the bid pipeline, track metrics (win/loss, pricing patterns, themes), deliver regular reporting to the Director of Clients & Growth and leadership, and drive lessons‑learned reviews.
- Lead, coach and performance‑manage a small team of Bids Coordinators, ensuring clear priorities, workload balance and professional development.
- Oversee the effective use and continuous improvement of AI‑enabled tender and proposal tools, setting standards for how the team and stakeholders use these platforms to drive efficiency and quality.
About you:
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in sales, marketing, communications, business, law or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES :
Essential
- 5+ years’ experience in bids, proposals, or related roles, ideally in professional services, consulting, engineering, or similar B2B environments.
- Proven success leading complex, high-value bids with multiple stakeholders and tight deadlines, improving win rates or bid quality.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, turning technical input into persuasive, client-focused documents.
- Strong project management skills, capable of handling multiple bids while managing priorities and risks.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to coach senior leaders.
- Experience managing and developing a small team, fostering collaboration and high performance.
- Skilled in adopting and championing AI and digital tools in the bids process, including training others.
- High attention to detail, ensuring compliance, accurate pricing inputs, and brand consistency.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, CRM systems, tender portals, and proposal/AI tools.
- Commercially savvy, comfortable discussing pricing, profitability, and fee models with finance and partners.
