We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as a Senior Change Manager.
Principal Responsibilities:
- The vision statement for Global Chief Operating Office (GCOO) Transformation Services is “To be the Group’s primary change partner, support the implementation of the Group Strategy and make change a source of sustainable competitive advantage for HSBC”. GCOO change teams are at the center of the bank, working between Lines of Businesses and Functions on the highest profile programme from Strategy & design to delivery and change adoption.
- The Asia and Middle East Portfolio Management Office, under the sponsorship of the AME COO & AME Head of Transformation will ensure execution excellence of the strategic plan,oversight and governance.
What you’ll do:
- Mobilise Collaboration – create connectivity and integration to achieve outcomes and resolve problems across businesses, functions, and markets.
- Lead, Drive, Influence – coordinate and align stakeholder objectives across Asia and Middle East, use a strong network of relationships to break down siloed thinking to achieve strategic goals.
- Governance – lead oversight of execution, providing clear status of funding, risks, and dependencies.
- Risk identification and mitigation – ensure risks to execution are identified, owned, and mitigated.
- Tracking and reporting – deliver comprehensive single source reporting and communication of initiatives to the AME COO Office, HK Business, ASP OpCo, HBAP OpCo.
- Management of ring-fenced investment pool – to ensure resources are prioritised to the strategic execution in a timely manner through interlocking and resolution of blockers.
- Benefit Realisation – monitor and ensure investment goals are achieved via KPIs and outcome tracking.
- Provides overall co-ordination to AME Head Transformation in providing portfolio view covering Asia, Middle East, and HK Business.
- Support the Design of the Execution Tracking dashboards ahead of ongoing ownership.
- Own ongoing reporting of execution into the PMO ahead of forums.
- Owns the Execution reporting and ‘source of truth’ for the GB/GF down to country level.
- Draws accurate conclusions from financial reports and makes insightful strategic financial decisions in planning and monitoring Key strategic initiatives performance.
- Collaborate with both 1LoD/CCO and 2LoD colleagues to effectively manage the oversight responsibility for the ASP portfolio.
- Demonstrates high organisational skills, collaborates with stakeholders to define the programme/ project plan ensuring all constraints of time/ resources are met.
- Collaborate with programme/ project Stakeholders to ensure the project governance and compliance is maintained, promotes, and take accountability for Programme/Project quality, monitoring the tollgates and budget.
- Ensures the programme/ project team follows all quality assurance processes, Change Framework, and the use standard tools i.e., Clarity/GCV and JIRA.
- Tracks, reviews and controls programme/ project progress and performance at clearly defined points in the process ensuring the project is delivered on time, within budget; anticipating potential risks and issues, assisting with putting mitigating actions into place to prevent delivery stalling and escalating as appropriate.
What you will need to succeed in the role:
- Min of 10 years of proven work experience as a PMO or similar role in product/ services organisations. Strong experience of managing senior stakeholders. Track record of building sustainable relationships with diverse stakeholder groups. Change Management experience in UK market is an advantage.
- Skills: High-quality verbal and written communication skills, ability to present strategic information briefly and clearly to wide and varied audiences. Influencing skills and ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. Strong facilitation and public speaking skills.
- Commercial thinking includes strong financial management capabilities. Critical thinking with ability and confidence to challenge status quo; strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proposing solutions when escalating.
- Excellent organizational skills, time management and prioritization. A track record of constantly looking for improvement, with a ‘can do’ proactive approach.

- Proactively monitor areas of concern and risks within the project / programme and provide recommendations on response types including action plan, to ensure SLAs of delivery are met. Promote adherence to project/programme/portfolio governance model and use defined controls and standards as outlined in Change Framework. Manage, measure, and track changes to the programme/project, assessing and understanding the impact.
- Ensure establishing strong governance, producing and publishing all artefacts, maintaining document repositories and establishing document management standards, producing and socializing ‘Ways of Working’, setting approach and underlying processes to execute the change.
- Set the pace and operating rhythm, driving a culture of high performance, and ensure pace by identifying and removing barriers to programme success. Demonstrate financial acumen to develop a business case, including investments, detailed benefits, and link to overall finances of the business.
- Act as a role model to foster a collaborative team environment which supports and encourages professionalism and development. Continuously lead and drive capability build of the PMO Practice i.e., through advocating community events, sharing relevant articles / studies / ideas, ensuring regular development, and experience exchange with Transformation community.
- Promote the value of challenging the status quo, seeking to improve ways of working and having a forward-thinking mindset, in line with the Group’s values and strategy.
What additional skills will be good to have?
- Master's or Bachelor's degree.
- Min of 10 years of proven work experience as a Project Management Officer or similar role in product/ services organizations.
- HSBC Change Framework, Group Tools such as Clarity / Jira / Confluence / GPDM.
- Relevant industry certification preferred PMP/P3O/MSP/MOP.
- Certification or Knowledge of Agile ways of working.
- Project management certifications (SAFe, MSP, Prince 2 or Agile PM) are an advantage.
