About the Position

Rooted in Smitty’s vision  to inspire connections and create warmth in every home , the Assistant Showroom Manager works alongside the Sales team to support the Company’s purpose to ensure that every customer who enters our store is given the best possible customer experience by fostering successful interactions with our customers, supporting the development of the sales team, and ensuring the presentation of product is visually pleasing and accessible.  This role works directly with Sales Consultants in all aspects of their role:  supporting in-store consultations, ensuring timely responses to customer leads, coaching and training team members, assisting with customer service concerns, and providing expert guidance on furniture selections.

The Assistant Showroom Manager uses their proficiency with our point-of-sale system to support efficient day-to-day operations, follows and reinforces store policies, and promotes a positive, collaborative environment for our team, customers and partners. The role strengthens customer and community relationships through active outreach, local engagement and in-store content creation for social media. The Assistant Showroom Manager also motivates and inspires team members to represent Smitty’s values and build our brand, and oversees showroom operations.

What will you be doing?

Supports the Sales Leader with the day-to-day leadership of the showroom team:

- Engage with customers on the sales floor whenever there are customers in the store

- Co-ordinate with the front desk admin to ensure customers have a sales team member assigned

- Provide assistance to customers when the sales consultant has more than one customer assigned.

- Assist sales consultants with the completion of orders to enable sales consultants to get to next guest.

- Assists in supporting the management of all sales consultant and support team members in a manner consistent with the Company's values and culture

Hold regular monthly 1-1 with all team members to facilitate the feedback process related to sales performance, targets and general performance

- Ensure all team members receive job-specific training

- Promotes a healthy and safe work environment by enforcing health & safety policies, identifying and handling safety concerns

- Work in collaboration with the Sales Leader in the management of workplace injuries in conjunction with Human Resources, including injury reporting, accommodation, and return to work processes

- Maintain regular communication meetings with each team to ensure the efficient and timely flow of information

by holding weekly team meetings

- Communicating vendor information

- Scheduling regular product knowledge learning sessions for the team with vendor reps

- Maintain up-to-date tags for products and communicate all current pricing and sale information to the team.

- Ensure the showroom has attractive and appropriate product displays at all times.

- Ensures that the showroom has adequate supplies for efficient and safe day to day operation by the team.

- Ensure presentation of in-store displays are to company & vendor standards.

- Resolving customer issues ensuring company policies and procedures are met.

What is going to help you be successful?

- Degree or Diploma from a recognized university or college in Design, Sales, or a related field

- 3+ years of retail sales experience, including experience in a supervisory or team lead role

- 2+ years in the home furnishings industry (preferred)

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to multi-task in a busy retail environment

- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills

- Demonstrated ability to learn new software programs

- Ability to navigate the internet and use computer programs such Microsoft products (Word, Excel, SharePoint etc.)
