About the Opportunity

Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years, HPCs two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, enough electricity to power around 6 million homes. In addition to the projects ‘clean energy’ benefits, HPC will create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.
Amentum are currently recruiting an Electrical Commissioning Enginee r who will help build successful collaborative relationships with: contractors, the HPC project delivery team, site engineering and the plant operational organisation ensuring success within your role while working within a team to successfully commissioning HPC on behalf of the NNB Commissioning Programme . Key responsibilities will be:
- Contribute to team meetings, liaise with the Project Managers for electrical deliverables and with Designers.
- Accountable to a nominated Commissioning Manager/Snr Engineer in the NNB HPC Project team
- Develop commissioning documentation relating to commissioning testing and system validation activities
- Contribute to design reviews to ensure layout of plant items and systems are in a manner that allows ease of commissioning
- Contribute to detailed planning of commissioning and take ownership of a programme of commissioning tests
- Take part in the preparation and execution of site commissioning activities including supervision of contractor commissioning personnel on behalf of HPC to achieve successful and safe commissioning of HPC systems
- Provide information to assist the Commissioning Manager and Senior Commissioning Manager in meeting project-level objectives and milestones
- Analyse, verify and validate commissioning results and provide reports summarising the outcome of commissioning activities
- Support HPC to ensure that the commissioning process meets nuclear, environmental and industrial safety regulatory requirements and that it reflects good industry practice in international safety and technical excellence.
- Develop commissioning documentation relating to commissioning testing and system validation activities for Electrical Systems.
- Carry out commissioning tests on Electrical Systems according to approved Commissioning Test Procedures.
- Ensures all commissioning documentation, test records, and handover certificates are accurately completed and compliant with quality and safety standards
Qualification, Skills & Experience
- HNC / HND or recognised equivalent in relevant Engineering discipline
- Demonstrable years of experience in undertaking fault finding activities, conducting commissioning / return to service / operational / maintenance tests
- Previous experience in high-hazard, industrial environment
