We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to coordinate a number of key technology initiatives for the Research Integrity and Manuscript Screening programme. This role will be responsible for driving delivery across multiple teams toward a shared vision and objectives. Focused on facilitating agile delivery, maintaining a culture of continuous improvement, and ensuring effective coordination, collaboration and reporting across teams and departments.

The Research Integrity and Manuscript Screening Programme is a strategic initiative focused on safeguarding the quality and integrity of published research. We deliver products and capabilities that identify potential research integrity concerns, automate and scale manuscript screening activities, and integrate actionable insights directly into editorial workflows. Working across complex business and technology domains, the programme aims to reduce operational burden, improve decision consistency, and ensure that research integrity threats are identified and addressed as early as possible in the publishing process.

About the role

Our products and initiatives deliver value to our global business through collaboration between cross-discipline teams. Project Managers work with stakeholders to ensure the technical deliveries are understood, planned, tracked, delivered on time, to budget and are fit for purpose. You will be responsible for tracking and reporting on the project status and be a leading figure in formulating quarterly objectives and delivery roadmaps. You will lead on harnessing the team’s talents to ensure they are delivering the highest value products and functionalities.

You will be working with cross functional delivery teams with different backgrounds and experience levels. All team members collaborate to deliver solutions that best satisfy the needs of our users and we are working to create a culture that encourages new ideas and innovation, but within the boundaries of the technologies that best suit the Springer Nature vision.

What you will be doing

Responsibilities

- Coordinate the delivery of initiatives across multiple teams. Creating delivery plans, tracking milestones, managing risk, reporting regularly and openly

- Ensure product delivery teams are able to reach decisions quickly and effectively

- Sustain our culture of continuous improvement both from a process and technical perspective ensuring that valuable software is delivered frequently

- Coordinate with the Programme leadership team to ensure that goals, objectives, and delivery timelines are aligned.

- Ensure delivery of project outcomes is within scope, committed timelines and quality expectations are met.

- Coordinate the creation and monitoring of quarterly goals

- Raise, manage and track risks, issues and dependencies

- Leverage data driven forecasting to enable strategic delivery and capacity planning, ensuring resources are balanced and aligned with prioritised objectives

- Provide guidance and support, in all aspects of the project lifecycle

- Facilitate agile best practices

- Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership and empowerment within teams

Within 3 Months you will:

- Get to know all members of the teams you work with, understanding their roles and contributions within and across teams to foster collaboration and alignment.

- Get to know our culture, values and ways of working. Continuously monitor and identify pain points in teams and areas for improvement ensuring effective collaboration and alignment.

- Become familiar with the products being developed, understanding how they are connected across multiple teams to deliver on overarching business goals.

- Build strong relationships and trust with stakeholders and collaborators.

- Become familiar with the Research Integrity & Manuscript Screening Programme structure and operating model, including delivery governance and reporting.

Within 6 Months you will:

- Act as the facilitator to teams by, but not limited to, scheduling and supporting ceremonies, workshops and inceptions.

- Proactively identify and drive opportunities to improve team ways of working

- Lead cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive, coordinated, and continuous delivery across our portfolio of projects and products, fostering collaboration between teams and disciplines.

- Raise, manage and track risks, issues, dependencies

- Contribute to domain-wide initiatives, playing a key role in the project management community of practice to ensure continued growth and learning across teams.

- Understand the non-functional requirements and technical debt across teams, ensuring they are addressed holistically to support long-term success and maintain alignment with organizational priorities.

Within 12 Months you will:

- Collaborate with Product Managers, Business Analyists, UX and Tech Leads to create clear, user-focused objectives, aligning the team to initiatives aimed at achieving these.

- Foster team spirit, collaboration and develop high performing, empowered teams with clear purpose.

- Provide support and input when needed to all aspects of the product lifecycle – from definition, decision making and user experience, through to maintenance and BAU.

- Sustain a culture of continuous improvement by championing process and technical excellence across teams, ensuring working software is delivered frequently, engineering quality is upheld, customer issues are addressed, and communication is effective both within and between teams.

- Mentor teams on agile and lean principles while

- Foster alignment and collaboration in a hybrid, cross-team setup.

Core skills

- Project Management experience within the software engineering industry, with a proven ability to manage and deliver initiatives across multiple teams.

- Experience with goal setting and roadmapping , ensuring alignment of objectives and key results across diverse teams to support cohesive planning and execution.

- Expertise in lean and vertical slicing of user stories to enable continuous delivery of user value.

- Proven leadership skills , with progressive experience in guiding and aligning teams to deliver successful outcomes across multiple streams of work.

- Technical knowledge , sufficient to engage effectively in discussions and decisions.

- Exceptional communication skills , with the ability to adapt style based on the audience, including conveying clear and concise updates to senior stakeholders and facilitating cross-team alignment.

- Deep understanding of agile methodologies , with the expertise to assess and apply the most suitable framework for multiple teams operating in different contexts.

- Skilled in tracking delivery progress and reporting actionable, concise information to stakeholders at all levels, ensuring visibility and alignment.

- Ability to organize and facilitate ceremonies, workshops, and inceptions, fostering collaboration and engagement.

About you

- You have significant industry experience in a leadership role on a variety of software projects.

- You have experience working on agile initiatives or a strong, demonstrable understanding of agile software development processes, including coordinating efforts across multi-disciplinary teams.

- You are skilled at facilitating technical discussions across teams, identifying risks and dependencies, and ensuring effective communication and resolution across all stakeholders.

- You have successfully managed several projects or release cycles in a delivery capacity, preferably with multi-disciplinary teams, both co-located and distributed.

- You have a proven track record of successful projects, and a corresponding collection of lessons learned from them.

- You can clearly articulate improvements that you’ve been responsible for when working with previous teams.

- You are passionate about mentoring and supporting individuals and teams, building capabilities, and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

- You have extensive experience working with diverse stakeholders, ensuring the right level of information is communicated to keep initiatives on track and aligned with business goals.
