The role

As our Asset Lifecycle Manager for Civils, you’ll help shape how Manchester Airport’s civil infrastructure is maintained, renewed and developed over the long term.

You’ll use asset condition, performance and criticality data to build whole-life asset management plans, improve maintenance strategies and make well-informed investment decisions. With responsibility for civil asset renewal requirements across one-year, five-year and 25-year plans, your work will support safe and reliable operations while helping the airport get the best long-term value from its infrastructure.

Working across Asset Management, Engineering, Operations, Capital Delivery, Procurement, Finance and Technology, you’ll turn technical insight into clear plans and investment cases. It’s an opportunity to make a lasting impact in a complex operational environment, helping to protect critical assets while supporting Manchester Airport’s future growth.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Building and managing whole-life asset management plans that support operational performance, regulatory compliance and long-term business planning.

- Managing asset criticality, condition and performance models, ensuring that decisions are supported by reliable and accurate data.

- Developing and continually improving maintenance and condition-assessment plans for civil assets.

- Ensuring maintenance plans meet relevant safety, statutory and regulatory requirements.

- Keeping asset plans and condition assessments accurate and up to date within Maximo.

- Reviewing maintenance performance, auditing compliance and adjusting plans to improve asset availability and lifecycle value.

- Developing and managing Manchester Airport’s civil asset renewal requirements across its in-year, five-year and 25-year capital plans.

- Identifying and prioritising investment needs, developing business cases and sponsoring approved projects through the capital gateway process.

- Using whole-life costing and asset-deterioration modelling to strengthen long-term investment decisions.

- Building collaborative relationships across Operations, Engineering, Capital Delivery, Technology, Procurement and Finance.

- Bringing insight into civil-engineering best practice, emerging technology and opportunities to improve asset performance and value.

What will make you successful in this role?

You’ll bring strong asset-management experience gained within civil engineering, transport, utilities or another infrastructure-led environment. You’ll understand how asset condition, performance, risk and cost come together to shape maintenance and investment decisions.

You’ll also have:

- Around five years’ asset-management experience, gained through professional experience, relevant qualifications or a combination of both.

- A good understanding of civil-engineering assets and their maintenance, condition and renewal requirements.

- Experience creating asset-management, maintenance or capital-renewal plans.

- The ability to analyse asset data and make considered decisions, including where information may be incomplete.

- Commercial awareness and experience of risk management, financial appraisal and whole-life cost analysis.

- Experience developing business cases or clear investment recommendations.

- Strong stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to balance different operational, technical and commercial priorities.

- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make complex technical information accessible to different audiences.

- A degree or relevant professional qualification in Civil Engineering or Asset Management would be essential.

- Chartered Civil Engineer status, or progress towards chartership, would also be advantageous.
