<b>Overview</b><br><p>The Windows Experiences organization is looking for a <strong>Senior Software Engineer</strong> to help shape the future of Widgets on Windows. You will build engaging, reliable, and personalized experiences that help customers stay informed, productive, and connected.</p><p>The Widgets area spans Windows shell experiences, application and platform components, web technologies, and cloud-powered services. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of end-to-end capabilities across these layers. You will work closely with engineering, product management, design, data science, and partner teams to translate customer needs into scalable solutions.</p><p>This opportunity is suited to an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, improving product quality at scale, and providing technical leadership across team boundaries. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.</p><br><br><b>Responsibilities</b><br><ul><li>Innovate and build new Widgets experiences that help customers discover personalized, relevant, and timely information across Windows surfaces.</li><li>Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and delivery of end-to-end capabilities spanning Windows shell components, application packages, web experiences, platform APIs, and cloud-connected services.</li><li>Partner with product management, design, data science, and partner engineering teams to identify customer opportunities, develop prototypes, evaluate technical tradeoffs, and turn promising ideas into scalable product experiences.</li><li>Establish experimentation and measurement strategies, use customer feedback and product data to evaluate outcomes, and continuously improve the usefulness, engagement, and quality of Widgets experiences.</li><li>Advance the availability, reliability, performance, accessibility, security, privacy, and observability of Widgets by defining measurable engineering standards and implementing durable solutions.</li><li>Mentor engineers, cultivate an inclusive learning culture, and improve team practices for design, development, testing, incident response, and operational ownership. </li></ul><br><br><b>Qualifications</b><br><p><strong>Required Qualifications: </strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.<ul style="list-style-type: circle;"><li>OR equivalent experience.</li></ul></li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.</li><li>10+ years of professional software development experience.</li><li>Proficiency in modern C++ and native Windows development.</li><li>Solid knowledge of software architecture, algorithms, data structures, concurrency, and debugging.</li><li>Experience leading complex projects across multiple teams.</li><li>Experience diagnosing production issues using telemetry, traces, dumps, and diagnostics.</li><li>Proactive, self-motivated, and willing to address challenging technical problems.</li><li>Effective communication and cross-team collaboration skills.</li><li>Experience with Win32, WinRT, COM, Windows App SDK, or MSIX.</li><li>Experience building Windows shell or system UI experiences.</li><li>Experience building cloud-connected Windows applications.</li><li>Experience building AI-powered experiences, personalization, recommendations, or intelligent content discovery.</li></ul><p> </p><p>#W+DJOBS</p> <br><p>This position will be open for a minimum of 5 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.</p><br><hr><br><p>Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer.
