MAB Construction Manager

KBR is seeking a MAB Construction Manager to provide dedicated construction leadership and oversight for all Monoclonal Antibody (MAB) manufacturing facilities and supporting infrastructure. Reporting to the Construction Lead, this role serves as the primary field coordinator for MAB-related construction activities to support successful commissioning, qualification, validation, and startup of the MAB manufacturing facilities.
Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Construction Leadership
- Serve as the owner's representative on site and be responsible for delivering the project safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Lead all site construction activities from mobilization through startup and handover.
- Manage EPCM contractors and subcontractors to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
- Coordinate construction, engineering, procurement, CQV, and operations teams.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement recovery plans as needed.
- Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, regulatory standards, and owner expectations.
- Provide regular reporting and strategic recommendations.
Contractor Management
- Direct and oversee EPCM contractors, subcontractors, and construction management teams.
- Monitor contractor performance against established safety, schedule, cost, and quality metrics.
- Conduct regular construction progress reviews and executive status meetings.
- Resolve contractor performance issues and facilitate recovery plans when required.
- Ensure contractor compliance with contractual obligations and owner requirements.
Safety Leadership
- Champion a "Zero Incident" safety culture throughout the project.
- Ensure compliance with all corporate HSE standards, local regulations, and industry best practices.
- Participate in safety audits, field inspections, incident investigations, and corrective action programs.
- Lead construction safety performance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
Schedule Management
- Validate construction schedules and execution plans.
- Monitor progress against project milestones and critical path activities.
- Identify schedule risks and implement mitigation and recovery strategies.
- Coordinate work sequencing and site logistics to optimize construction productivity.
- Provide accurate schedule forecasting and reporting to project leadership.
Cost Control
- Oversee construction budgets and field change management processes.
- Review and approve contractor progress reports and earned value performance.
- Identify cost risks, growth opportunities, and mitigation strategies.
- Ensure proper evaluation and management of change orders and claims.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure construction activities comply with design specifications, project standards, and contractual requirements.
- Participate in quality surveillance and inspection programs.
- Monitor non-conformance reporting and corrective action implementation.
- Verify turnover and completion packages meet commissioning requirements.
Risk Management
- Identify and manage construction-related risks and opportunities.
- Develop mitigation plans for safety, labor, material, weather, productivity, and execution risks.
- Support project risk reviews and contingency management processes.
- Lead issue resolution efforts to minimize impacts to project objectives.
Commissioning and Startup Support
- Coordinate transition from construction to commissioning and startup.
- Ensure system completions are executed in accordance with turnover plans.
- Support operational readiness and training activities.
- Facilitate smooth handover to operations and asset management teams.
Required Qualifications
Education
- BS in Construction Management, Engineering or related technical discipline, or experience in lieu of a degree
Experience
- Minimum 20 years of progressively responsible construction management experience.
- Minimum 10 years in leadership roles on large industrial, petrochemical, energy, pharmaceutical, mining, manufacturing, or infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects valued at $500 million or greater.
- Experience serving as owner's representative on major EPC or EPCM projects.
- Proven record of delivering complex projects safely and successfully.
Technical Skills
- Advanced knowledge of construction execution methods and contractor management
- Strong understanding of engineering, procurement, commissioning, and startup processes.
- Expertise in project controls, scheduling, cost management, and risk management.
- Knowledge of contract administration and claims management.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6, project controls systems, and construction management software.
