About this role

Main responsibilities and tasks:

The Team Leader – Engineering Standards is responsible for developing, governing, and continuously improving company-wide engineering standards, specifications, procedures, design guidelines, calculation methods, and technical templates. The role leads a team of mechanical engineers and serves as the focal point for standardization initiatives aimed at improving engineering quality, consistency, efficiency, compliance, and scalability across the organization.

Engineering Standards Management

- Own the complete lifecycle management of engineering standards, specifications, procedures, guidelines, document templates, and calculation templates.

- Establish governance processes for creation, review, approval, release, revision, and retirement of controlled technical documents.

- Ensure consistency and alignment across standards, specifications, procedures, drawings, templates, and related engineering documentation.

- Maintain accurate document cross-references and change histories.

- Ability to simplify complex technical knowledge into clear, usable and auditable standards.

- Interpret and apply relevant international standards, including ASME, ASTM, API, NACE and ISO, and translate their requirements into practical internal engineering guidance.

- Develop technical documents covering material selection, assembly procedures, mitigation plans, casting and machining defect resolution, and acceptance criteria for cast, forged and machined parts.

- Create and maintain operating manuals, standard operating procedures, technical guidelines and pressure-testing requirements for rotating-equipment parts and assemblies.

- Review parts, part drawings and assembly drawings of mechanical equipment, with particular focus on rotating equipment, for technical correctness, standardization opportunities and usability.

- Detailed experience in preparing calculation\ design tools.

- Standardize workflows, processes, materials, machine components, document structures and calculation methods to improve quality, repeatability, lead time and engineering efficiency.

- Maintain accurate document cross-references and ensure consistency among standards, specifications, procedures, drawings, templates and related controlled documents.

- Coordinate with Sales, Engineering Design, Production, Machine Shop, Assembly, Procurement, Quality, Testing and Field Service to gather requirements and implement practical standards.

- Exchange experience and lessons learned with SERV, Operational Excellence, Contracting and Workshop, and convert relevant learning into improved standards and guidance.

Leadership & Team Management

- Lead and develop a team of qualified mechanical engineers responsible for standards development and maintenance.

- Allocate work, provide technical guidance, mentor team members, and ensure competency development.

- Review technical deliverables and ensure timely completion of assignments with high-quality standards.

- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, and knowledge sharing.

- Plan and coordinate standards projects, define milestones, monitor progress and risks, and ensure compliance with agreed schedules and deadlines.

Education, Experience and Languages:

- Graduate in Mechanical engineering.

- 10+ years of industrial experience preferably in rotating equipment.

- Experience with ERP systems preferably SAP.

- Experience in Siemens UGNX or Similar 3D modelling tool.

- Proficiency in English language and knowledge of German language will be an added advantage.
