About this role

Job purpose/role

The Private Debt team is responsible for designing and managing Allianz Group’s alternative debt portfolio. Private debt has been one of the fastest-growing asset classes over the past decade. We are seeking a highly motivated intern to support the sourcing, analysis, and execution of high-quality fund investment opportunities across senior, mezzanine, and opportunistic credit strategies, spanning corporate lending, infrastructure debt, and real estate debt. This role offers direct exposure to senior investment processes and a broad range of private debt strategies within one of Europe’s leading institutional investors.

Key responsibilities

• Support the evaluation of private debt fund investments through qualitative and quantitative due diligence, including analysis of investment strategy, restructuring capabilities, ESG integration, historical performance, and return expectations
• Conduct market screening and map the private debt landscape across different strategies and sub-sectors
• Prepare materials for and actively participate in meetings with asset managers and internal decision-makers
• Utilize data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Python, R, SQL) to support investment decision-making and portfolio management

Key requirements / Skills / Experience

• You must be enrolled as a student for the entire duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required)
• You have completed an undergraduate degree in finance, economics, mathematics, data science, statistics, computer science, or a related field, and are currently pursuing a master's degree in a relevant discipline
• You have hands-on experience with data analysis tools such as Power BI, Python, R, SQL, VBA, or comparable technologies
• You are fluent in English. German is a plus
• Strong written communication skills (supporting documentation such as standardized test results is optional but appreciated)

Additional information

• A valid university enrollment certificate is required for the full duration of the internship
• Non-EU/EEA students in Germany must comply with applicable working day restrictions
• One position available starting end of 2026 or 1H 2027. Please indicate your availability. The internship is full-time.
