Our team provides industry-leading products and services that optimize the production and processing of energy. We implement and adapt AI, CV and Robotics algorithms across a broad variety of projects. These include robotics, autonomous inspection and maintenance, advanced sensors, hardware prototyping, image/video analytics and defect detection by computer vision, remote sensing & satellite imagery analysis for emission monitoring, control, predictive maintenance. Our team is responsible for exploring innovative solutions, for deploying production ready codes in Cloud and Edge environments, and on the field at customer sites.
The internship will address the development of advanced algorithms for robotics inspection and maintenance in industrial environments. Algorithms will facilitate the definition of autonomous mission and the deployment of robots in the energy industry.
You’ll participate in focused training, and team meetings, work on projects, and present your results. During your internship, you will be supported by a buddy and your manager who will ensure you have a valuable learning experience. You can expect to receive coaching and mentoring to enable you to complete assignments and projects to develop your learning and skillset.
You will also have the opportunity to become familiar with the Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) and culture of Baker Hughes. as well as our strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Internship may involve one or more of the following activities:
- acquiring data using different sensors onboard the robot;
- developing source code;
- developing and training AI/CV models for autonomous inspection and maintenance;
- develop, train and integrate AI/CV models for dynamic asset and digital twin reconstruction;
- integrating software and AI models into robots;
- testing of algorithms in simulated environment and in relevant industrial scenarios;
- prototyping robot and sensor hardware and electronics;
- testing of robots and sensors real sites, where controlled gas leaks may be used to evaluate the precision and effectiveness of the system;
- developing AI/CV in the field of remote sensing for emission monitoring; evaluating the quality and efficiency of the developed solutions using statistical techniques.
- Internship will require presence at the Florence campus.
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will:
- Be currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Computer, AI, Robotics, Automation, Electronics, or Mechatronics) Data Science, Physics, or a related technical field.
- Have maintained a GPA grade greater than or equal to 3.0 out of 4.0 or the equivalent in your country
- Be fluent in oral and written English and have effective communication skills
- Be able to legally work in the country that you are applying in, without company sponsorship or time restriction

The fixed allowance for this position will be between this range: 600 - 1000 € gross monthly.
The allowance will be established in accordance with criteria related to the candidate’s academic status and their distance from the workplace.
The Baker Hughes internal title for this role is: Intern/ Trainee/Apprentice
