Job Description:
Baker Tilly is seeking a Valuation Manager to join our growing Valuation practice. This role will lead and manage valuation consulting engagements, oversee financial and valuation analyses, and deliver high-quality advisory services to clients. The Valuation Manager will also play an important role in developing team members, strengthening client relationships, supporting business development, and contributing to the continued growth and strategic direction of the practice.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage multiple valuation consulting engagements from planning through completion, ensuring high-quality deliverables, timely execution, and exceptional client service.
- Perform and oversee financial statement analysis, valuation analyses, industry and economic research, and the preparation and review of valuation reports.
- Conduct management interviews and site visits to develop a comprehensive understanding of clients' businesses, operations, financial performance, and key value drivers.
- Apply financial analysis, valuation methodologies, accounting principles, operational data, performance measures, and industry benchmarks to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and key business insights.
- Effectively define engagement scope and objectives, manage project resources and timelines, anticipate and resolve issues, and deliver on client commitments while achieving budget and realization goals.
- Ensure engagements are performed in accordance with applicable professional standards and legal, regulatory, and firm requirements.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by applying technical valuation expertise, sound business judgment, and strategic insight to complex financial and business matters.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to team members, including reviewing work, providing actionable feedback, and supporting professional development.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve processes, increase operational efficiency, enhance engagement execution, and strengthen the client experience.
- Support the strategic growth and development of the Valuation practice by identifying market opportunities and contributing to practice initiatives.
- Contribute to business development efforts, including proposals, presentations, marketing materials, thought leadership, and digital campaigns.
- Build and maintain strong client and professional relationships through networking, industry events, presentations, conferences, webinars, and other market-facing activities.
- Collaborate with professionals across offices, service lines, and industry groups to expand capabilities, identify cross-functional opportunities, and support firm-wide growth initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related field required; MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of valuation or related financial advisory experience, with demonstrated experience performing valuations for financial reporting purposes.
- Strong understanding of fair value measurement principles and U.S. GAAP financial reporting requirements, including experience with ASC 820 and related valuation guidance.
- Experience with purchase price allocations, business enterprise valuations, intangible asset valuations, goodwill and long-lived asset impairment testing, and other financial reporting valuation engagements strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of commonly accepted valuation methodologies, including income, market, and cost approaches.
- Strong financial modeling skills and demonstrated experience analyzing historical and projected financial statements, management forecasts, market data, and valuation assumptions.
- CFA, ASA, CVA or ABV designation preferred
- Experience managing multiple engagements and leading professional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience contributing to thought leadership activities such as industry presentations, networking events, webinars, or professional forums preferred.
- Experience supporting mid-market clients preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain technical valuation concepts to clients, auditors, and other stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, project management, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
The pay rate range for this job position is $110,000 - $155,000. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of relevant factors including but not limited to applicant’s skills, prior experience, qualifications, degrees, professional certifications, work arrangements and geographic location. Baker Tilly offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package to eligible employees.
