SHIFT SCHEDULE Monday-Sunday 1800-0600 - 7 days on, 7 days off

POSITION SUMMARY

The Operations Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and monitoring transportation activities to support the efficient movement of freight and achievement of customer service objectives. This role works closely with drivers, dispatch, planning, customers, and leadership to ensure on-time service, effective communication, regulatory compliance, and optimal utilization of fleet resources. The Operations Coordinator proactively identifies and resolves operational challenges, supports driver engagement and retention efforts, maintains accurate operational records, and contributes to the overall success of the transportation operation while working a rotating 7 days on / 7 days off schedule.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION

- Coordinate daily transportation activities to ensure on-time pickup and delivery performance.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for drivers during assigned shifts, providing support and guidance as needed.
- Monitor load and route execution, proactively identifying and resolving service issues or delays.
- Communicate with customers, brokers, and third-party logistics providers regarding shipment status, delays, and service concerns.
- Collaborate with dispatch, planning, and operations teams to optimize fleet utilization and service performance.
- Accurately enter and maintain operational data within TMW and other company systems.
- Monitor driver activity and utilization to support operational efficiency and customer commitments.
- Ensure drivers are properly trained and utilizing PeopleNet, ELD, and other required technology platforms.
- Track and communicate equipment availability, trailer pool status, and asset utilization needs.
- Assist in coordinating pickup and delivery appointments and any required schedule changes.
- Monitor customer lane requirements and volume commitments to support service expectations.
- Escalate critical operational issues and service disruptions to leadership as appropriate.
- Support driver retention efforts by fostering positive working relationships and timely issue resolution.
- Partner with Safety and Compliance teams to support adherence to DOT regulations and company policies.
- Maintain effective communication during shift transitions to ensure continuity of operations across the 7-day rotating schedule.
- Participate in on-call or after-hours operational support as required during scheduled work periods.
- Prepare and distribute operational updates, reports, and shift notes as needed.
- Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations.
- Additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, fleet operations, dispatch, customer service, or a related operational role preferred.
- Experience working in the trucking or transportation industry strongly preferred.
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), such as TMW, or similar transportation software preferred.
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service requirements, and transportation compliance practices preferred.
- Experience communicating with drivers, customers, and internal stakeholders in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Ability to work a rotating 7 days on / 7 days off schedule, including weekends and holidays that fall within the scheduled rotation.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

- Associates or bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, or Business Administration, or related field
- Experience managing drivers in a mid-to-large scale trucking operation
- Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and safety protocols

REQUIRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.)

- Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced transportation environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively problem-solve and make decisions under pressure.
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation operations.
- Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMW preferred), Microsoft Office Suite, and ELD platforms.
- Ability to build positive relationships with drivers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

PREFERRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.)

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Knowledge of Transportation, Operations, and/or Logistics Industries
- Experience in TMW Office Suite and ELD systems
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
