Cleveland‑Cliffs is seeking a Process Manager for the Roll Shop at our New Carlisle, IN facility, a 24/7 steel manufacturing operation producing cold‑rolled, hot‑dipped galvanized, galvannealed, and electrogalvanized steel coils. This leader oversees daily roll shop activities supporting rolling operations, roll maintenance, roll changes, and roll performance optimization. The role is responsible for safe operations, equipment reliability, workforce leadership, and continuous improvement within a critical support area of the plant. Ideal candidates bring strong manufacturing leadership, hands‑on technical problem‑solving skills, and experience in roll shop or rolling mill environments.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Leads and coaches roll shop personnel to achieve safety, quality, and production performance targets.
- Ensures full compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and plant operating procedures; takes immediate action to correct unsafe conditions.
- Oversees roll shop workflows including roll inspection, grinding, maintenance, changeouts, and preparation for rolling operations.
- Drives continuous improvement, lean manufacturing initiatives, and process optimization within the roll shop and related support functions.
- Coordinates daily activities with operations, maintenance, engineering, and production planning to ensure roll availability and equipment reliability.
- Provides coaching and counseling on safety, attendance, work rules, and interpretation of USW Collective Bargaining Agreement language.
- Tracks key performance indicators (roll performance, downtime, maintenance metrics, overtime, absenteeism) and implements corrective actions.
- Facilitates team meetings and ensures consistent communication on safety, environmental, quality, training, and budget topics.
- Identifies skill gaps and leads training in roll shop techniques, equipment operation, quality systems, and maintenance practices.
- Partners with Equipment Control maintenance teams to address equipment deficiencies, improve reliability, and support root‑cause analysis.
- Maintains strong shop‑floor presence and provides operational support based on business needs.
- Participates in facility and vendor project teams to improve roll performance, reduce costs, and enhance operational reliability.
- Coordinates with outside processing vendors to meet roll shop and production requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Leadership experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, or maintenance environments.
- Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, advanced Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced steel production environment.
- Ability to work in a plant environment with exposure to heat, noise, and moving equipment.
- Ability to walk long distances, climb stairs, and access elevated or confined areas.
- Must support a 24/7 operation, including off‑shift availability as needed.
- Minimal travel for training or vendor coordination.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, or a related technical/business field.
- 3+ years of experience leading a manufacturing operations or maintenance team.
- Experience working in a unionized environment.
- Roll shop experience supporting roll grinding, roll maintenance, roll changeouts, or rolling mill operations.
- Experience with continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and problem‑solving methodologies.
- Strong understanding of rolling mill processes, roll performance, and equipment reliability.
