Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years, HPCs two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, enough electricity to power around 6 million homes. In addition to the projects ‘clean energy’ benefits, HPC will create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

Amentum are currently looking to recruit a Fire Risk Assessor who will support on fire safety matters to the Commissioning programme (NNB GenCo), Support and promote the development of a positive fire safety culture and help support facilitate the coordination of fire safety amongst the many other contractors working on the project and at its Associated Development Sites. Key responsibilities will be:

- Implementing a Fire Hazard Analyses (FHA) and Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) with inputs from relevant HPC project Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
- Assist the CommOps Fire safety lead regarding the Fire Safety Arrangements in Commissioning, including writing and owning Commissioning Fire Risk Assessments (FRA)
- Support the facilitation and administration of the Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness Management Systems and Fire Safety Audit and Assurance
- Contribute to the implementation of the Commissioning fire safety strategy for Commissioning/Pre Op/Maintenance areas
- Ensure the Fire Health and Safety Standards of the HPC project are consistently met while championing the HPC Way including its pillars in all activities undertaken.
- Assist with communication of lessons learned/ toolbox talks/ fire safety moments across the CommOps
- Administrating and supporting regular site fire safety inspections and checks with Commissioning Fire safety Coordinator
- Assist the CommOps Fire safety Lead regarding undertake Fire Safety Assurance Audits, Inspections and other monitoring activities of both controlled areas and all site contractors to ensure compliance with site Fire Safety Standards and UK legislation

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

- Minimum Level 4 Fire Safety Qualification with an approved professional body i.e. Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) with a minimum of 2 years' experience.
- Demonstrates a knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of Fire Safety.
- Detailed understanding of Fire Safety Legislation (e.g. Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (“the Fire Safety Order”), Fire Safety Act 2021, Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022) and codes of practice and the ability to interpret applicability to a range of different operating conditions and contexts.
- You should hold an appropriate qualification, e.g., H&S Diploma (NEBOSH) and accreditation to (or working towards) one of the Fire Risk Assessor National Register (i.e. IFSM, IFE, FRACS).
- Experience carrying out Fire Risk Assessment (FRAs) within a range of different CommOps and operating environments.
- Ability to communicate clearly at all levels of the organisation, both verbally and through written reports.
