The Opportunity

Join the Central Processing and Management Information (CPMI) technology team in Toronto as a Software Engineer focused on full stack development across JavaScript, Node.js, and modern front-end engineering. Central Processing and Management Information is an enterprise application within DSG Information Technology (DSG IT) that processes and enriches trade data used by downstream applications and business users. You will build and enhance user-facing capabilities, application programming interfaces (APIs), and services while working across the application stack and integrating with Java-based microservices and PostgreSQL. The platform is undergoing modernization to simplify the application landscape, transition from legacy reporting solutions, improve performance and reliability, and strengthen operational support. You will partner with engineers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, architects, and technology teams across Toronto, Poland, and other global locations. Success is defined by delivering clean, well-tested software that performs reliably in production and improves the platform’s maintainability, automation, and supportability.

What you'll be doing

- Design, develop, and maintain applications using JavaScript and Node.js
- Develop and enhance user interfaces using React or similar modern front-end technologies
- Build and integrate Representational State Transfer (REST) application programming interfaces (APIs) and web services
- Integrate with Java-based microservices and understand end-to-end application flows
- Retrieve, validate, and troubleshoot application data using Structured Query Language (SQL) and PostgreSQL
- Write clean, reusable, and well-tested code that supports long-term maintainability
- Investigate application and production issues and perform root-cause analysis through resolution
- Support releases, deployments, production support, and improvements to continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) and automated testing

What we're looking for

- Demonstrate strong hands-on experience with JavaScript and proven professional experience with Node.js
- Apply React or another modern front-end framework to build effective user interfaces
- Build and integrate Representational State Transfer (REST) application programming interfaces (APIs) with a strong understanding of Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and web services
- Develop across front-end and back-end layers to deliver end-to-end functionality
- Use Structured Query Language (SQL) and relational database concepts to validate, troubleshoot, and interpret application data
- Use Git and modern software development practices including code reviews and engineering standards
- Embed automated testing and continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices into day-to-day engineering
- Resolve application and production issues by evaluating complex behavior and business logic in existing systems
