About this role

Job Description:

The Senior Patient Accounts Coordinator is a member of the patient accounts department who ensures all claims are processed correctly and submitted in timely manner. In addition, the Senior Patient Accounts Coordinator will take a leadership role in the department when deemed necessary by the VP Patient accounts.

Responsibilities:

- Printing of claims
- Input information in whatever billing system eg. QCARE, OMNIPRO or FSS
- Submitting billing to Medicaid
- Billing adjustment
- Printing of Claims – verify, matching claims with authorization received
- Mail claims out in a timely fashion
- Inputs information in the billing software (Qcare, Ominpro, FSS)
- Follow up on denials if there is a need to submit do so, otherwise pass on to Collections
- Ensure all late charges are done
- Submit all Medicare claims with a memo stating all claims that were submitted daily or weekly
- Ensure all billing errors are corrected in the Medicare system
- Prepare billing folders
- Assume leadership in the absence of the manager and provide assistance to the Department VP as needed.
- Create and maintain documentation of policies, procedures, deadlines, and other preferences related to billing, collection, cash posting, unbilled items, etc.
- Assist in preparing monthly AR reports and responses for submissions, as well as other ad-hoc assignments.
- Prioritize multiple concurrent assignments and work with a sense of urgency.
- Perform other related senior-level duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate proficiency in MS Excel, including advanced features such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and filters.
- Work independently with limited supervision, demonstrating a strong work ethic.
- Occasionally work outside of established business hours and adjust personal schedule to meet deadlines as required.
- Assist in the preparation of analytical reports

Other Job Duties:

- All other duties as assigned
- Assist with the orientation and training of new staff as requested
- Assist with the data entry
- Pulling of charts whenever it’s necessary for Billing
- Assist with the writing of BID’s
- Participate in Americare’s functions

Requirements:

- HS Diploma required; Associate degree a plus.
- Must have 3 - 4 years of recent work experience
- Highly organized and able to track workflows through AR reports and worklists
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail, strong communication skills
- Ability to handle high volumes, balance priorities and work independently
