COUNTY-FUNDED POSITION
SUMMARY: Provide oversight and direct case management services in Unified Family Court / Dependency, including assistance to judges, stakeholders, and team members regarding program services, including monitoring the movement of cases from initiation to case disposition. Perform administrative tasks, such as reviewing backlog of case files, organizing and processing files for dispositions.
Work under the supervision of the Court Operations Manager, Director of Unified Family Court. Exercises considerable judgement and independent initiative.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- EXPERIENCE: Four years of related experience, including two years of supervisory experience is required. Should have extensive knowledge of court dependency processes and procedures.
- EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in criminology, social work, psychology, public administration, counseling or a closely related field.
- SUBSTITUTIONS: Juris Doctor or Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for two years of related work experience, excluding supervisory experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Gather and analyze information/data for quality assistance of case management and evaluate work for efficiencies in dependency cases and domestic relations.
- Provide judicial case management support in Early Childhood Court, Family Dependency Treatment Court, initial shelter hearings, and Intensive Family Service Treatment cases.
- Oversee research and management of legal cases/files including monitoring workflows.
- In conjunction with Court Operations Manager, develop, draft, and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance program operations.
- Gather and analyze information/data or oversee compilation of data to support periodic and special reports documenting activities for the area of responsibility.
- Attend and/or conduct staff, committee or other professional meetings to exchange information; establish and maintain working relationships with other court personnel and the community.
- Attend technical or professional workshops or seminars to improve professional skills.
- Coordinate training and supervision of student interns assigned to UFC and provide back-up coverage to the Court Operations Manager/Director of Unified Family Courts.
- Other duties as assigned by the Court Operations Manager/Director of Unified Family Courts or Chief Deputy Court Administrator.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to conduct interviews and evidence-based risk assessments.
- Knowledge and experience working with community agencies and providing referrals.
- Skilled at providing case management services.
- Ability to work well under pressure; conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
- Ability to deal tactfully with the public.
- Ability to use discretion with confidential information.
- Ability to use a personal computer and Microsoft Office software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Zoom.
- Ability to conduct research and compose technical reports.
- Must be adept at public speaking and have the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and logically.
- Incumbent must be professional in all regards.
