The Regional Controller is accountable for providing fiscal integrity to all aspects of regional financial reporting. This individual will facilitate financial processes to create awareness of potential risk issues to project and regional operations.

Responsibilities

Cash Management

- Manage overall A/R process, following up with Project Teams on collections

- Manage Cash Position reporting and provide analysis to Sr. Regional Management

- Manage with inter-company cash collections

- Provide weekly AP distribution report to corporate

- Review and provide regional approval for special payment requests for subcontractors/vendors from project teams

Job Forecasting

- Accountable for integrity of project financials and manage monthly P&L review process

- Implement best practices for managing financial processes while maintaining company standards

- Provide guidance for contract and insurance compliance, federal reporting, risk management, as well as financial system management reporting.

- Supervise Assistant Regional Controller and Project Controller holding them accountable for their responsibilities

- Understanding of project contracts to mitigate risk and ensure proper procedures are established

- Manage the company’s project control systems and project management reports are accurate and consistent with company financial reporting. Provide recommendations for improvement

General Accounting Functions

- Analyze internal financial reports to make informed strategic decisions

- Become a trusted partner for the Regional President/GM/CFO, being responsive to impromptu requests

- Manage inter-company financial procedures

- Expert knowledge of Oracle being able to produce required information and reports

- Manage compliance with all company systems

- Manage financial close out of projects

Regional Accounting Department

- Develop training for accounting and operations personnel on proper financial reporting procedures

- Leader within the Regional Management team

- Provides leadership and recommendations for the development for short and long-term strategic financial objectives

- Provide leadership on proper accounting procedures, utilizing experience and lessons learned while ensuring consistency throughout all projects.

- Work closely with Corporate Accounting personnel to ensure proper reporting of project financials and ensure consistency with project and management financial reporting.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field/Advance degree preferred

- 10+ years of related experience

- Can mentor senior level employees and provide guidance on professional development

- Advanced technical knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word

- Expert knowledge of Suffolk’s accounting and project management platforms

- Identifies the need for improvement and leads department initiatives

- Advanced knowledge of the Construction industry with an ability to educate others

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
