Assistant Chief - JLL
What this job involves:
The Assistant Chief – Mechanical Systems is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and planning of all mechanical systems within the facility. This role ensures optimal performance, energy efficiency, and reliability of mechanical equipment while leading maintenance teams and developing strategic maintenance plans.

What your day-to-day will look like:
- Support daily operations of all mechanical systems including HVAC, boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, and related equipment.
- Ensure systems operate efficiently and within specified parameters while maintaining optimal indoor environmental conditions.
- Develop and implement comprehensive preventive maintenance programs for mechanical and HVAC systems.
- Create detailed maintenance schedules in CMMS system (Maximo), coordinate work orders, and plan system upgrades or replacements.
- Analyze equipment performance data to forecast maintenance needs and budget requirements.
- Supervise and direct mechanical maintenance technicians and contractors.
- Assign work, provide technical guidance, and ensure team members follow safety protocols and quality standards.
- Conduct performance evaluations and identify training needs.
- Diagnose complex mechanical and HVAC system issues.
- Review system designs, specifications, and drawings.
- Make recommendations for system improvements, energy conservation measures, and equipment modifications.
- Ensure all mechanical operations comply with local codes, regulations, and building standards.
- Maintain required certifications and permits.
- Implement and enforce safety procedures for mechanical equipment operations.
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs, installations, and service agreements.
- Review proposals, negotiate contracts, and oversee contractor work quality.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and system performance.
- Prepare reports on mechanical system status, energy consumption, and maintenance costs for facility management.
Required Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of experience in mechanical systems maintenance and HVAC operations
- Strong knowledge of building mechanical systems, controls, and automation
- Proven experience in planning maintenance work
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Proficiency computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with energy management and building automation systems
- knowledge of sustainability and green building practices
- Budget management experience
- Valid mechanical or HVAC license/certification
Working Condition:
This position requires regular work in mechanical rooms and on building rooftops. The role involves physical activity including climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and responding to emergency situations outside regular business hours when needed.
Location:
Onsite - Thousand Oaks, CA
Work Shift:
Monday to Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm + Overtime based on business needs.
Salary/ Comp:
$39 Per Hour

Expected compensation for this position:
81,120.00 – 81,120.00 USD per year
Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
